Mastering a pixie cut like Ginnifer Goodwin‘s is a cinch — just ask the actress herself.

“People say it’s a difficult hairstyle to pull off, but I don’t see how it is tricky,” the Once Upon a Time star told PEOPLE on Thursday at the Young Hollywood Awards in Los Angeles.

“I have very curly hair and I straighten it every day — it takes maybe two minutes. I can’t imagine anyone having a bigger challenge than I do in the kinkiness that is my crazy ‘fro,” she added.

Aside from how easy the ‘do is to manage, Goodwin said the hairstyle lets her be more flexible when it comes to fashion.

“I can wear far more with short hair than I could when I had [long] hair,” she said while donning a white lace Monique Lhuillier dress. “Everything goes with short hair. It’s bananas.”

The style-savvy starlet also named some designers she’s currently loving. “I’m very excited about what Jason Wu has coming out,” Goodwin revealed. “I’ve been fairly impressed with Jonathan Saunders, and I’ve been wearing a whole lot of [the line]. I think the same about Preen as well.”

Added the actress, who wore bright pink lipstick and said she’s a fan of the neon trend, “The fashion industry is growing and changing and taking risks. I’m excited about all of the shapes and colors.”

everyone does not have the head for short hair – I certainly don’t – imo, that style is too short.

I personally think that she looks lovely. Very adorable :)
I’ve seen her with long hair, and her face seems more soft and unique when accentuated by her short cut.
I like my own hair long…..but some people, their face goes better with shorter hair.

well rhonda I’m not a idiot but thanks for your imput i don’t like it so get over it, i don’t think it suits her and thats what i think

Long hair flatters round faces better. Short hair flatters long faces. I think she’s cute, but that hair is just too short on her.

Wow…..jealous much?? It would be soo entertaining to see pics of the posters calling Gennifer “homely”.

Liz: Really?! Stop trying to “make it happen”? It’s already happened! Mia Farrow rocked short hair forty years ago. Halle Berry has worn her hair short many times over her career. I praise Ginnifer’s boldness, and she’s brave to wear her hair short when so many women hide behind their long hair. Short hair is not for everyone. But just because a woman wears her hair short doesn’t make her look masculine. Good for Ginnifer…not clinging to long hair as a definition of beauty or appeal.
