Summer is officially in full swing and our favorite style stars (well, most of them!) are embracing the warm weather by working bright hues, short hemlines and sky-high sandals. Find out which trends we loved this week, and the one that just left us, well, confused.

Up: Neon from head to toe. It’s so refreshing when celebrities wear fun, bold colors on the red carpet, which is exactly what Julianne Hough did this week. For the Rock of Ages premiere in Los Angeles, she wore an electric citrine KaufmanFranco gown that would be jarring on some, but was totally effortless on her. Apparently, neon really works for her.

Up: Glittery skyscraper heels. Even if you’re wearing the most basic ensemble, a glitzy pair of stilettos can add an instant glam factor. Case in point: Nina Dobrev‘s all-white outfit that’s punched up thanks to her sparkly peep-toes.

Down: Crushed velvet blazers. We’ve never met a blazer we didn’t like … until now. The crushed velvet topper Sarah Jessica Parker donned this week is giving us major ’70s flashback — and not in the good way.

Need some more style pointers? Check out our thoughts on colorful heels, leather shorts and overdone updos.
