Cate Blanchett 'Frightened' by Plastic Surgery

If there’s one star in Hollywood who won’t be getting Botox anytime soon, it sounds like it’s Cate Blanchett. “I’m not sitting on a soapbox telling women what they should and shouldn’t do,” she tells Fashion ETC. “I just know what works for me. I’d be too frightened about what it means long-term. Looking at women in their 20s doing this stuff, in the end all you see is the work. It doesn’t fill me with admiration; it fills me with pity.”

Luckily, the actress doesn’t have to worry too much about her skin: her pale complexion is basically flawless, a fact she credits to Japanese skincare brand SK-II (she’s the face of the company). “I’ve been using it for a long time,” she says, adding that part of her basic routine is born of laziness. “If it works, I keep using it. It’s about consistency.”

In addition to using the brand’s delicate lotions and masks — she put her own $250 skincare kit together back in 2008 — the Aussie actress relies on occasional oxygen facials, emu oil, Paw Paw Ointment and daily doses of sunscreen. But some signs of aging even Blanchett can’t prevent: when asked about sun exposure, she resigns, “You’re going to get it anyway.” Tell us: How do you take care of your skin?

I am 62 years old and look 45. I stay out of the sun, have no wrinkles, except laugh lines near my eyes. I use an exfoliator every day and have been since I was 25. I use Stri-Vectin and Oil of Olay products. People think my 6 year old granddaughter is my daughter. Just stay out of the sun and use sun screen.

“Beauty is in the eye of beholder.”
“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”
“You laugh because I’m different, I laught because you’re all the same.”

Enough said, really. Plastic surgery kills uniqueness. That’s why it frightens me as well. And it’s better by far to be loved by few who mean it when they say “I love you”, rather than be “loved” by millions who want you to be an image of their dreams, which is mission impossible.

Just so you know, Cate’s husband doesn’t want her to take plastic surgery either, so he definitely loves her as herself. And her face isn’t frozen at all.

Take a look at Cate’s upper and lower face. Yes, she is using Botox. The lower part of her face has normal lines/folds. Her forehead and area between her eyes are unnaturally smooth. Not saying it looks bad — just saying that’s Botox!

Cate has no need for plastic surgery. Her makeup and skincare regimen is more than enough upkeep.

Look at her, she’s stunning..

I know so many women in the age range of Cate Blanchett and many of them have been going to “Botox Parties” for years. They have had lipo over and over to get rid of any tiny patch of “fat” they imagine they have, and they spend thousands on microdermabrasion and obsess about any little sign they think makes them look their age. It is astounding how flawless they think they have to look! Don’t get me started on the breast enhancement I don’t think Cate Blancett has that same look; she looks like a normal person and doesn’t have a frozen face, she just has a serene expression. Most people who are trying to prevent wrinkles and/or in acting or modeling don’t squint and all sorts of things that cause creases. My aunt was a model in the days before Botox and her face was as smooth as Cate Blanchett’s at the same age because of the way she cared for her skin.

The secret to a beautiful smooth complexion is a daily scrub like St. Ives, staying out of the sun,not smoking and having good genes. Drinking lots of water has nothing to do with great skin. That’s a total myth. Do take vitamins and eat lots of veggies. Stay away from sugar.
