Cate Blanchett 'Frightened' by Plastic Surgery

If there’s one star in Hollywood who won’t be getting Botox anytime soon, it sounds like it’s Cate Blanchett. “I’m not sitting on a soapbox telling women what they should and shouldn’t do,” she tells Fashion ETC. “I just know what works for me. I’d be too frightened about what it means long-term. Looking at women in their 20s doing this stuff, in the end all you see is the work. It doesn’t fill me with admiration; it fills me with pity.”

Luckily, the actress doesn’t have to worry too much about her skin: her pale complexion is basically flawless, a fact she credits to Japanese skincare brand SK-II (she’s the face of the company). “I’ve been using it for a long time,” she says, adding that part of her basic routine is born of laziness. “If it works, I keep using it. It’s about consistency.”

In addition to using the brand’s delicate lotions and masks — she put her own $250 skincare kit together back in 2008 — the Aussie actress relies on occasional oxygen facials, emu oil, Paw Paw Ointment and daily doses of sunscreen. But some signs of aging even Blanchett can’t prevent: when asked about sun exposure, she resigns, “You’re going to get it anyway.” Tell us: How do you take care of your skin?

Microdermabrasion on

Plastic surgery is really painful and do takes time to heal, rather than you can take crystal or diamond microdermabrasion treatment that clean the outer layer of your skin and rejuvenates your skin.

I don’t think that “people in their 20’s” need Cate Blanchett’s “pity”. Get over yourself.

Keep a very simple regimen: Drink 8-10 glasses of water a day to stay hydrated and keep your skin clear, don’t go outside without sunscreen, and use all of the OLAY products. I look 20 yrs younger than I am and I attribute that to a consistent beauty regimen since my 20’s and some of my Mom’s great genes.

First and foremost, genes play a major factor in one’s skin. Wilma is right as far as drinking plenty of water and using sunscreen. I have never been one to think that spending an extravagant amount of money on beauty products really makes a difference though.

She hasn’t been able to move her face in 10 years. Who does she think she’s kidding. Her face looks absolutely FROZEN!!! Emu oil my but.

Yes, sunscreen is very important, but Cate has excellent genes, fabulous cheek bones and beautiful lips. Why should she change anything? Growing old gracefully is a lot easier when you were born gorgeous to start with. Even still, there are so many woman out there that have had even a small amount of surgery and you can tell, i.e. Cindy Crawford, Madonna. It’s very hard to deny or hide the fact that you’ve had surgery. I applaud all the great actresses that have gone with out…Judy Dench, Helen Mirren, Diane Keaton, Meryl Streep….
