Nearly 84 percent of StyleWatch readers said they love Reese Witherspoon‘s new bangs, but there’s a somewhat dark reason behind the star’s new hairstyle. During an interview with Graham Norton, airing Saturday night on BBC America, Witherspoon reveals details about her recent car accident — and the scar it left behind.

“I was jogging and I got hit by a car,” she shares. “They said I am very hard-headed because I landed right on my head and I have a scar, hence my new hairdo. I don’t remember much about it but miraculously and thank God, I am fine.”

Though she didn’t press charges against the driver, an 85-year-old woman, there were legal repercussions. “They took away her license and gave her a bus pass,” the actress explains.

Moving into lighter territory, Witherspoon — who stars in the upcoming romantic action comedy This Means War — reflects on her stellar 2011, which included her wedding to Jim Toth and a meeting with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. “It was really fun,” the actress shares. “[Kate] was lovely and funny and she said some sweet girly things. I think she is handling herself so beautifully.”

@Tom on Feb 3, 2012: “Just curious why the article said “cut” her bangs instead of “grew,”
which is what she did…?”

Tom, to clarify, we say we “cut” bangs when we take long hair and “create” bangs. We use “grew” bangs when we let the bangs “grow out” to no longer be worn as bangs. (It’s a girl thing!)

Why do you come to a “style” page if you think “style” is trivial? You say this ISNT news…yet you came to a style page. Pay attention people!

This is exactly why older people need to retake their drivers test. Im not saying younger people are better drivers – but lets be honest. I think after you reach a certain age you should be required to take your drivers test again. If you fail then you are not permitted to drive (just like you would have to do when you first go for your license) – of course you can give them another chance if they fail after a few months or whatever. I can not tell you how many older people I have seen on the road cause almost fatal (and minor) accidents.

I don’t know where you people are seeing “buss” pass. It is correct on my posting…it says “bus pass.”

I am still waiting for her to come back from Pleasantville. She got left behind and I am waiting for her brother to come back and get her.

She’s very fortunate. Her head trauma could have been fatal, landing on your head is NO joke. But, honestly I love her bangs. They help balance out her chin, and make her face look more proportionate. And as she ages, we girls tend to get some forehead lines, and they’ll help hide them.
