Sinead O'Connor Looks a Lot Like ... Sinead O'Connor Again

Nothing compares to bald!

Sinead O’Connor was barely recognizable in photos that were released this summer (below), but now the singer’s gone back to her signature look.

O’Connor, 44, sported a shaved head, glasses, pink lipstick and a purple dress that showed off her tattoos at the amfAR Inspiration Gala in Los Angeles Thursday night.

The Irish crooner planned to perform her hit song “Nothing Compares 2 U” and another tune, “The Last Day Of Our Acquaintance,” at the event. And the shorn singer told PEOPLE she was most excited about the fact that she “got to dress up” for the gala.

Though her height of fame came in the ’90s, O’Connor — a mother of four children ranging in age from 5 to 25 — said she’s slowly going back to music full-time, touring mostly in Europe. And returning to her roots also means reflecting on her past.

“I regret that I had very low self-esteem,” O’Connor confessed about her early career. “I would go back and I would say, ‘Sinead, you rock!’ I really would. I’d say, ‘Don’t beat the s— out of yourself, woman. You f—– rock!'”

There is a difference between the Pope and Jesus Christ. I hope you know it.

There’s my Sinead!! History, anyone? She tore up the pic of the Pope trying to bring to light the atrocities of “the troubles” in Ireland before the violence was finally put to rest. She had close family that had been killed during the religious “civil war”. Look it up. It was a bold move that did indeed create BAD press but, she stated her opinion and really made people focus. Too bad human nature was so quick to put thier own spin on it instead of finding out why she did it. Typical….

So happy she’s back, but I’d listen no matter what she looked like!

Dan, did you notice her chest tatoo is of Jesus? That’s much deeper devotion than merely wearing a crucifix. I think the bottom picture is her “mom” disguise. Covers her tatoos, has a bland haircut, doesn’t embarass her kids to much…I bet she didn’t know her shirt had ridden up like that, the picture probaby kicked her into a weight loss plan though, she looks amazing now!

She is scary looking.

Dan, Religion isn’t the enemy – fantatics who think that any God isn’t accepting and open to everyone are. As are people like you, who are as closed minded as any fanatic I’ve ever known.

As for ripping up the photo of the Pope, I get why she was doing it but I think it was a useless act and somewhat a way of a new young artist trying to get a little publicity. She has a lot of talent and it would have been better if she had spoken on the issue – what she ended up doing is insulting a great many people. No church is one man and there are many from that particular faith who have spoken up against these vulgar and lowest acts of humanity. Junk Drawer: Britney, Gaga, Leighton and Lindsay — on
