When Vanessa Minnillo ventured out for that wedding dress shopping trip every girl dreams of, it didn’t go as expected. Minnillo, whose birth mother hasn’t been in her life for more than 20 years, struggled with not having her mom there with her on that special day. “Normally this is something you do with your mother, and my birth mother hasn’t been in my life since I was 9,” she explains emotionally to PEOPLE. “I have been okay with that up until now but for some unexplained reason, it really overtook me. I felt lost, confused and sad. It was very emotional.” With her matron of honor, friend Jennifer Birmingham-Lee, by her side, Minnillo worked with Monique Lhuillier to try and find the perfect dress. “This was the hardest decision in the whole wedding planning … probably because I didn’t have the support of Nick [Lachey],” Minnillo says. “We decided everything together, even his [Dolce & Gabbana] tux. For the first time, I felt a little bit alone.” To gain some clarity, the bride-to-be decided to ask for her groom’s opinion. “I said, ‘What do you want to see me in when you marry me and I become Mrs. Lachey?'” she recalls. And much to Minnillo’s surprise, Lachey didn’t give a generic male response and instead, was eager to say, “Something traditional with a little modern flair.” So following their chat, Minnillo headed back to Lhuillier’s Los Angeles boutique … and the rest is history. “Literally the next day I went to Monique and tried on my three dresses for the zillionth time. As soon as I put it on, I knew this was it.” –Jennifer Garcia

Love this couple and so glad to see them finally get married. If you don’t know who they are, its because they haven’t the fought for the limelight as many stars do. They’ve been together for years. Not everyone you read about is going to catch your fancy. Just turn the page and move on if you don’t like what you see.
Congrats and much happiness to them both!!! - on

I can think of a lot of things more upsetting and pressing in this world than a spoiled, pampered, Hollywood wannabe who’s crying because her birth mother isn’t there to help her pick out a wedding dress. If that’s all this pathetic creature finds to get upset about, she needs a serious reality check.

Pretty dress but really no one cares about this couple

Here is what I do not understand about women today……….why can they not make ONE decision, with JOY, like picking out a wedding dress WITHOUT their soon to be partner?! It baffels me to no end.
Once upon a time, wedding planning and dress shopping was a fun and special time for a woman, now, it seems that every event in life really has to be done with their partner.
Don’t get me wrong it is good to share things with the person you love but honestly if you can’t make ONE decision without them without feeling sad and lost then there is a HUGE problem. I don’t mean that Melissa had these feelings about missing her Mom, that was natural, but her comment that Nick wasn’t with her on ONE decision about the dress, to me, that spells ISSUES!
Take a look at shows like “Say Yes to the dress”, LOTS of women simply cannot venture out in life and pick their OWN dress without their partners approval, THAT is pathetic!

Cinder’s Mom — you can see a photo of her in the dress in the issue of People with JLo on the cover.

The dress is beautiful and Vanessa looked wonderful in it. Congrats and best wishes to both her and Nick.

This couple is so boring and she seems to have no personality.

Does anyone else get the feeling that this poor guy doesn’t get a say in any of the “press” they do on these two? We’re reading these mundane details about them everyday, and it all seems to be coming from her. Does she have on speed dial? Nothing against these two, but it just appears as though she keeps running to the media to dish on their lives together in an attempt to “out shine” his life with Jessica – hence the televised special. She knows very well how the majority of the public adored Jessica and Nick together, and it seems like she’s constantly shoving the details of their relationship in everyone’s face in an effort to make everyone forget about him and Jess or somehow convince the world that their relationship is better. Sorry Vanessa, but we can’t….their chemistry was undeniable and her sillyness paired with his patience and love for her was heartwarming to watch. Just an observation. Nick and jess, you KNOW you belong together! You only marry your true love once! Please get back together :(

Vanessa was a scream on 30 Rock. Nothing but praises from the critics for her performance with Tina Fey. Perhaps that is why Wipeout chose her to work with the very funny two Johns. Obviously the producers are happy with her personality, Anna, and that is what counts. Perhaps they even have had the opportunity to actually have spoken with her! As for the choice of dress, gorgeous.
