See Dylan Lauren's Wedding Dress — Designed by Dad!

When Dylan Lauren first saw her wedding dress, designed by her famous father, Ralph Lauren, she was speechless. “I may not take off the dress after the wedding,” Dylan joked to Oprah Winfrey during a family interview in May. “I told my fiancé I may sleep in it, I may wear it the next day. It’s really beautiful. It’s stunning.” Now we get to see it, too: the August issue of Vogue includes a feature on Dylan and hedge fund manager Paul Arrouet’s June 11 nuptials in Bedford, N.Y., complete with a photo of the dreamy gown. But creating the dress wasn’t so easy for Dylan’s esteemed designer dad. After consulting with wife Ricky, as well as Dylan, Ralph went through “a few drawings” in hopes of pleasing the bride. “Ricky looked at the first drawing and said, ‘Ralph, that’s not Dylan. I think she should have this and should have this,'” Ralph told Winfrey. “Nothing was perfect.” Indeed, the pressure was certainly on. “I had to do something that was better than ever before,” Ralph said. “That’s the only daughter I have. I wanted to just give her something that she’d really treasure, give her something that would be really amazing, and I wanted her to feel fantastic.” It seems that mission was accomplished. But Ralph doesn’t get to rest just yet; he’s currently designing the wedding dress of his daughter-in-law-to-be, FEED founder Lauren Bush. –Kate Hogan

The tradition of women taking their husband’s name came from when women had no choice/power. Women were treated like cattle and for men to show ownership and that their wives were their property, women had to take their husbands’ name. How’s that for tradition?

wait so his daughter in law is technically going to be Lauren Lauren?

His “DAUGHTER” is Dylan, not daughter in law.

Really feminine and lovely. What a wonderful gift to his daughter.

Wow! Stunning dress and beautiful bride! Cannot wait to see the wedding photos! Sweet. I have 2 daughters of my own, and look forward to their weddings someday.

Crystal on

Yes, but his Daughter in Law to be.. Her first name is Lauren. If she takes the last name of Lauren, she’ll be Lauren Lauren. That’s what the other person was talking about.

Is it just me or is she swimming in it! Way to big on her!

Lets hope she goes by Lauren Bush-Lauren. Lauren Lauren would be a bit…odd. BEAUTIFUL gown!!

how can a girl so famous for selling candy be so thin? I guess she only sells it, and doesn’t EAT it….darn willpower!

Codie on

I never know if it’s proounced, “Lorin” or “Lor-en,” with an accent on the “en.” Lauren Lauren would be cute if they were pronounced differently:)

that dress is gorgeous very refined reminiscent of old hollywood glamour.Ralph out did himself with his daughters wedding gown

When your dad is a famous designer, the dress better be damn stunning. Isn’t that expected?! As if she’d go with somebody else designing the dress. it’s hard to tell from this photo but simple classic lines are what Ralph Lauren is known for. As long as the bride was happy, that’s all that matters.

It looks very uncomfortable. Just fabric twisted around her. I use to do that with my Barbie dolls.

Read before you type on

Just so people understand — Ralph Lauren’s daughters name is Dylan and her Mom’s name is Ricky. Your comments therefore make no sense.

Purelica on

Yes, the dress is absolutely beautiful and very elegant.

Read before you type on

Ralph Lauren’s DAUGHTER got married and her name is Dylan. He designed the dress for her. Ricky is her Mom. More traditionally those are male names but if you read correctly you’ll see that they’re both girls. Before typing a rude or silly comment perhaps you should learn how to read first.

Katie on

Your maiden name is just your father’s name, so what’s the point?

Daisy on

My dear Read Before You Type, you might want to take your own advice. The “Lauren Lauren” refers to the fact that Ralph Lauren’s son is marrying a woman whose first name is Lauren. That would make her name Lauren Lauren. Read the article.

Personally….I loved the gown until I got down to all that “stuff” at the bottom. I understand why it was done but, for me, it takes away from the simple eligence of the gown and the bride. She is beautiful and should not have allowed anything to detract from the beauty of the main portion of the gown in its symplicity and her natural beauty.

Dancer666 on

That dress is breathtaking! It’s beautiful!

The gown is beyond beautiful, It is breathtaking.

I love the ruffles on the mermaid skirt… what I do not like on any garment is the strap plus a dropped cap sleeve… one or the other but not both….

Stunning dress, beautiful bride. Congratulations, Dylan….and, Dad, well done!

I watched the Lauren family’s interview w/Oprah & was so impressed. They’re an ultra-rich bunch but weren’t snobby or anything…a very down-to-earth and close-knit family. Best wishes to Dylan!

The dress…and Dylan are just gorgeous.

Appears his daughter-in-law will be Lauren Lauren.

My sister-in-law is Kelly Kelly. She married my brother, John Kelly.

I want Ralph Lauren and Mattel to make a limited edition Barbie wearing Dylan’s wedding gown – it’s better than beautiful! And, the money raised could go to Dylan’s charity. That way, she’ll still have her one of a kind wedding gown designed for her by her dad, and the rest of us can have a mini copy to love and adore as well. Congratulations, Dylan and Ralph!

It is pretty but so typical of todays style….it looks like the dresses that is on Kleinfelds show alot…but it is beautiful—-Looks like a Lazaro or Pnini

nobody on

Very nice but she’s so tiny.

She sells the candy, but I highly doubt she eats it. She must have quite the willpower to do that. Gotta admire her for it. I know for a fact that I don’t have that kind of willpower. She does really look lovely in that dress.

Best of Luck to her and her new husband.

Pat on

Can’t tell much from that pic. Other than the train, it looks kind of blah.

lisa on

I dont like it. Looks like wadded up tissue on the bottom.on the other hand maybe its pretty in person but on the other hand too,if it looks bad in pictures, whats the point?i just think daddy could of done better.hes a amazing designer but he dropped the ball on this dress.

Marcee on

WOW!!!! Spectacular!!!!!
Dylan has her mommy’s looks. Both are beautiful.
For sure, Dylan is one fortunate lady. What a life! She does work very hard at her candy stores. A very successful business venture. Overall, that entire family does well in everything they touch.

P.S. I’d like to be Dylan’s first child! Yep. That would be sooooo nice.
