L'Oréal's Hot New Face? Hugh Laurie

07/08/2011 at 12:00 PM ET

Every man deserves a little pampering once in a while — or if you’re Hugh Laurie, a lot of pampering, all the time. The charming House star was just announced as the newest face of L’Oréal Paris Men, and will appear in international (though sadly, not domestic) ads for the illustrious brand. In the behind-the-scenes clip above, Laurie enjoys a manicure while jokingly introducing himself as Gerard Butler and waxing poetic over the brand’s tagline, “Because you’re worth it.” But in all seriousness, he seems jazzed about the new gig. “I’m very flattered to have been thought a fit subject to promote the idea of beauty,” he jests. “This is a new me.” The actor joins other famous L’Oréal faces including Beyoncé, Rachel Weisz and Gwen Stefani.

Listening to him with his real accent is wierd… It’s like House – PLAYACTING like he’s a Britt… Like the accent is fake. so funny. Incredibly sexy as always.!!

This is really interesting. I wonder how this is going to turn out and if the advertisements will be successful or not.

He’s hot! I think he’s very qualified for this role! Agree though, so wierd to hear him with his accent, yet just a reminder to how amazing of an actor he really is!

I love Hugh Laurie…his humour, his talent, his self-depricating wit…but come on, someone’s gotta say it: he’s rather homely!!

The thing about Hugh Laurie is that while he’s never been conventionally handsome, he’s amazingly photogenic; it’s his eyes, he always seems to be looking right at the viewer. I think, with his unusual attractiveness, articulateness and his humor, he will be a terrific spokesperson

Finally L’Oreal got one right… I hate hate hate the ad with Gerald Butler in it…he is so NOT HOT!!! I would never buy something GB promotes…I don’t understand how he became famous…he is horrible to me…and has a problem with his mouth!!!

Homely!? Hugh Laurie is HOT!!!!! I love him! And I have to agree it is so weird to hear him with his accent. House is one of my favorite shows. He was in an episode of Friends with his accent. The one where Rachel is on the plane to go stop Ross and Emily’s wedding. He’s so funny. He is an awesome actor, handsome, sexy, funny.

I really love this ad :) I find him more sexy than GButler… Hugh isn’t the amazing handsome man what we call plastic beauty .Ηe is a REAL man 100% with his bad things ,he is not the cute good looking guy but he is THE MAN …tall, blue eyes, talented, smooth, sarcastic, musician, everything that make him SEXY,UNUSUALLY ATTRACTIVE,HOT.!He is very special love his British accent is even more sexy !!!!
