They may have worn custom Alexander McQueen the day of the royal wedding, but the morning after, both Kate Middleton and her sister, Pippa, had returned to their girl-next-door styles. Newlywed Kate, who strolled the palace grounds with her husband, looked effortlessly chic Saturday morning in a black blazer, Greta wedges by L.K. Bennett (to be re-released as the Kate wedge for $265 in June) and a blue pleated dress by Zara, just $90. And great minds must think alike: Pippa was spotted out in London, too, sporting crisp white pants, cute nude flats and a bright blue tailored blazer, $100, also by Zara. The girls are famous for their sensible style; just days before the wedding, they did some shopping in London, where Kate picked up a variety of reasonably priced dresses and cardigans from stores like Warehouse and Banana Republic, presumably for her honeymoon. The Duchess is also known for her sensible shoes — pumps by British fashion house L.K. Bennett are a fave — and the accessibility of her everyday outfits. We can’t wait to see (and buy!) what the girls wear next.

I think Catherine is beautiful -much prettier than Pippa, although Pippa is very pretty. Catherine has such grace and dignity. She has a wonderful fashion sense, simple, yet elegant. Unlike some people, I do think Catherine is a “head-turner” and is definitely someone I would want for a friend.

Louise, the point simplelady is making is gone over your head. Stop bicthing and READ. SimpleLady your bang on the money there.

I absolutely love Kates look. Between her down to earth personality and economically stylish clothes she is a wonderful role model for little girls to look up to!

Pretty sure they’re women and not girls.

Unfettered, simple or understated some call this look the Duchess wears very well…being yourself, comfortable, enjoying, but owning your moments in this life is what’s it’s all about.
By the way, her modesty brings me back to myself of years ago in 70’s to early 80’s. She brings stately, secure, and wears happy with right where she’s at through of all this. It’s refreshing seeing her own herself and not letting it be all about glam. Well done, and live it well! You got them all beat, when it’s both of you doing what ever you do working it “together”.

I think Kate and Pippa are both very beautiful :) I would stop and look twice at either of them if I passed them on the street (even if we didnt know who they were)…they both seem very down to earth and someone that I would want to be friends with, even if they werent beautiful I think people would still be drawn to them because of their personalities :) And to the poster who told Louise to quit complaining I’m pretty sure that she was replying to Leanne not simplelady, Leanne is the one who said something negative about the Princess and her sister.

Leanne – Please get real! In this time and age, it’s refreshing to see normalcy anywhere, especially in the Royal family. Kate is beatiful (I wonder what you look like). What is not normal or nice is jeolousy. I love both of these girls’ styles. They have very good taste without sacrificing looks or a lot of money. Very smart!!!

I was responding to Leanne, not simplelady. I did read. That is why I was responding.

sounds like somebody is jealous! why are some people so cruel and negative!! i think they are so down to earth, william and kate look so much in love! and THAT’S A BIG DEAL!! love every moment of their wedding and the affection, love that was so clear to all

Leanne, I’m with you! Kate doesn’t have “It.” She has no real allure or glamor, two qualities people look for in ROYALTY!
Now, there’s nothing wrong with being “normal”…if you’re marrying an office manager. But when you marry a prince…I’m sorry but I just expect something more.
But maybe “normal” is why William married her. His mother was an ICON and he had to grow up with all that entailed and ultimately saw the tragedy that became of it. So having gone through that, why marry into it?! It’s better for him to have a plain-Jane wife, with no magnetism and who won’t be dogged by the media the way his mother was.
For a royal watcher like me, Kate pure boredom. But for William, she’s just the kind of “normal” he needs.
