What does one wear to announce her own royal wedding to Prince William in front of cameras around the world? While it would send most of us mere mortals into a wardrobe meltdown, Kate Middleton simply called upon her favorite brand Issa. The London-based fashion label has become the Brit’s go-to designer of choice over the years, thanks to her love of their elegant wrap dresses and glamorous evening gowns. Opting for one of their classic silk jersey dresses in navy (all the better to sparkle against that dazzling blue sapphire engagement ring) and simple black pumps–her look was princess perfect. As pictures of the happy couple at St. James Palace were beamed across the globe on Tuesday evening, Issa designer and Middleton friend Daniella Helayel told PEOPLE she couldn’t be happier that one of her dresses had been chosen for such a momentous occasion. “We are thrilled with the engagement news and I’m very happy that she has chosen to wear Issa today,” adding, “She is a very pretty and lovely girl.” Fueling speculation that the bride-to-be will wear Issa on her wedding day, Middleton recently wore a bespoke dress that Brazilian-born Helayel whipped up especially for her (based on a dress Middleton already had in her closet). But as dress predictions mount, we’ll simply have to wait and see. One thing we can be sure of is that a style icon is emerging and this one is here to stay. —Monique Jessen

In my heart of hearts, I’d love to believe in these two. However, his body language screams of someone who is being ‘coerced’ into ‘doing the right thing’, especially during these bad economic times for the UK. I’m not being cynical. Just watching William’s body language. Any guy who truly loved Kate wouldn’t have to ‘just get motivated enough’ to finally do something. (His words.)

Hate to break it to you Jennifer, but you ‘are’ being cynical. I’m not sure who died and made you ‘body language reader’, but quit.

Either be happy for them or go focus on something else.

Anger management much, Monie?

Sorry Jennifer but have to disagree. He waited until he was ready, I have no doubt he has “pressures” but he has been with Kate for 8 years so it’s not like it’s off the cuff. If you watch those 2 together they really mold each other. I think there a lovely couple and wish them the best!

Stunning – both of them. I wish them all the best and will be watching the wedding, as I did with his mother’s. She would be very proud and I think it’s a great tribute to her that he gave Kate her engagement ring. There are many families that hand down an heirloom and is not in bad taste.

Jennifer, I have to disagree with you. His body language makes his comfort with her, and with the engagement, obvious. He was at ease both with her and the photographers, and often exchanged happy grins with her.

As for “getting motivated,” he didn’t sound as though he didn’t want to marry her at all. As he stated in the interview (if you watch the whole thing) he was waiting for the right time and had carried the ring for weeks trying to find just the right moment. He was also very clear that he wanted Kate to have time to really decide if this was the future she wated, and to be able to back out if she chose to, rather than feeling stuck like his mother.

We have to remember that these two have been dating for 8 years, much longer than many marriages last these days. Expecting them to crawl all over each other is unrealistic and inappropriate for a royal couple. They virtually live together already, spend a great deal of time with each other’s families, and as such they don’t need to be showy and clingy. Their comfortable body language and beaming smiles to each other in the interview really said it all.

Diana would be so proud of William. Kate seems like a perfect choice for him. From all the pictures I have seen, the Royal’s don’t show affection in public.

I believe they are truly in live with each other. If you watch interviews and the way they look at one another you can see. They are mature and at a great age to settle down and start a beautiful life together. It is a big step for the both of them and after eight years it was the right time. I wish them the best.

If you have ever been proposed to, you would know that every man gets nervous and has to pump themselves up to actually ask the question. Men will not ask if they think you will say no but in their “hear of hearts”, they know that it is a possibility. It takes a great deal of courage to obtain a ring, plan a romantic proposal and know that in reality, there is a chance you’ll be rejected. I love my husband but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit nervous on my wedding day…especially having been divorced. Just be happy for these two young people that are in love and want to begin a life together.

I disagree with Jennifer as well. I am sure any guy thinks over and over before they ask someone to marry them. It’s a big decision after all and definitely a nerve wracking one…especially for someone from a Royal family, I imagine.
