EXCLUSIVE: Football Star Troy Polamalu's Hair Now Insured for $1 Million

Heads up NFL. Opposing teams had better mind the hair pulling–Head & Shoulders has taken out a $1 million Lloyds of London policy protecting their spokesperson, Pittsburgh Steelers’ Troy Polamalu’s famous ringlets. “It’s like J.Lo’s insured butt!” he jokes, comparing the famous urban legend surrounding the singer’s derriere to learning about his own very real insurance policy. The beauty brand has reason to keep Troy’s 35″ tresses under lock and key: Women and men across America are desperate for the secret to those Samoan curls, with some of his manliest teammates even trying to score the secret. “One guy in particular… is stealing all of my Head & Shoulder products,” he laughs. Taking 45 minutes pregame to care for his hair has become a ritual for the all-pro safety, who explains, “It’s correlated to what a warrior in the past would do to prepare for war. You have the Mongolians, the Japanese Samurai, the Spartans–all of these warriors with long hair…and in that way you can almost get into the mind-way, preparing for some type of battle when you are doing your hair.” After eight years without so much as a trim, would Troy ever consider cutting his signature locks? “With this big hair insurance–I don’t think so!” he says. –Katherine Kluznik Rentmeester

He is so beautiful. His wife is so lucky…

To labor: If you watch him going up against a receiver on the field you will see how manly he is! That man should be outlawed in all 50 states he is so lethal on the field. I love watching him play and I’m not even a Steelers fan (go Cowboys!!!).

Obviously many of you are not football fans. That picture above is exaggerated. His hair is not that big its for the shampoo commercial that he endorses.

All you that said he needs to cut his hair how about you cut yours and donate it? His hair is apart of his culture and he is very devoted to it.

His real hair is gorgeous and it identifies him on the field. I love to see him running down the football field with all that hair trailing behind him. The only downside is that players have tackled him by his hair…ouch. Because its not secured under his helmet its considered a part of his uniform.

April I don’t think he is from Hawaii (I could be wrong though) I’ve always read California. But I agree he is a good person. He is religiously devout, doesn’t party, drink or smoke. He volunteers and donates to many charities.

A million dollars is crazy though…he’d probably donate it should he ever had to cash that puppy in.

Keep the hair. Can’t believe women are so jealous. Just keep playing great football and stay away from Delia.

I followed a link to this site and noticed how unbelievably annoying it is. While reading a paragraph a pop up appeared in front of the text, not a paid add mind you, an internal link with giant pink stars. Next I tried to comment, clicking the link that says comment either scrolls you to the top of the page or is a direct link, not sure but either way shouldn’t it lead you to an anchor placed somewhere near the comment form. Also, what’s with the hot pink and blue? I’m guessing the site was designed by an outdated print designer. I just thought I’d throw that out there for you, most likely it will be ignored but somehow I feel better at least trying to help you step your web game up.

Lay off! As long as he keep playing great football, I love his hair.

Hey Troy, if you’re reading these, try the Moroccan Oil line of hair products. Their shampoo, conditioner, and intense curl creme are the best I’ve ever tried. They leave your hair soft and shiny, and the scent is really fantastic. My hairdresser just got it in and raves about it.

Those who posted that his hair looks ridiculous & looks like a bad wig–that’s because it is a ridiculous bad wig–DUH!!! That photo is from part of the commercial which is a parody about his hair!

Sharon on

Come on this is not his hair, the texture is better than that.
