EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Jessica Biel Takes You Behind the Scenes of Her Latest Revlon Shoot

07/26/2010 at 06:00 PM ET

She might be more accustomed to the red carpet’s high-drama glitz, but for her latest Revlon commercial, Jessica Biel is going back to nature–and she’s taking us behind-the-scenes of her picturesque shoot. The overall concept for the Revlon ColorStay Just Bitten Lipstain and Balm ad, she says, was inspired by “this idea of this girl just lounging in the beautiful field, and in this meadow, and the flowers are growing and the wind’s blowing and it’s just a very real environment. And then this kind of mysterious person arrives and breaks her out of her little private moment and they have this kind of playful little scene.” Instead of playing up the jet-set lifestyle fans often associate with the Revlon Global Brand Ambassador, “I think what [we] are trying to create is almost like a watercolor,” she explains, “which is a little bit sleepy and sort of magical–that is what I really respond to.” The $9 two-in-one lip-stain and balm is available now on ulta.com. Tell us: What’s your take on Jessica’s behind-the-scenes shoot? –Katherine Kluznik Rentmeester

“…it’s just a very real environment” – except for the crew, camera, storyboard and huge camera equipment in my face! LOL!

I think JB is beautiful, but am disappointed in her sellout to cosmetic company. The idea that beaty is marketed and that girls need makeup to feel beautiful saddens me as a physician that works with teens. I’m also concrened because I have researched the factories used by Revlon and would urge to go visit a factory where they make this product. Overworked (mostly women) and underpaid. These celebs should know what they are marketing. Just b/c one celeb does, it’s almost as if they all jump on and justify. She has the popularity to speak to young girls about self esteem through hard work like climbing mountains and yet she contradicts herself by promoting this unrealistic idea of beauty, and wraps it up in some BS story about nature. I feel really disappointed in JB. I thought she was going to be different. It’s perhaps just a biz to her too. Please tell JB to go through every step of manufacturing Revlon before she sells another item, unless of course she just doesn’t care.

F/U: I feel I should have proof read my post and am sorry for the spelling errors and gramatical errors. I hope that doesn’t distract from the real issue. The issue that JB decided to see us all but mostly young women into a lie. A lie about a lipstick that is overpriced. The money must just be too easy.

That’s okay Lilly, no biggie on the errors. Actually not even noticed…at least not by me :)
And, agree with you.

Please lilly tell me your not for real? Jessica Biel is an almost 30 year old woman who wears make-up. I know I do and so does every woman I know. Just because she’s doing a make-up commercial just like so many other female celebrities do, Ellen DeGeneres, Jennifer Garner, Beyonce, Jessica Alba etc., dosen’t make her a sell-out.

I walked in the Revlon Cancer walk to benefit breast cancer with Jessica Biel. She’s a gorgeous down to earth woman who cares deeply. There’s nothing wrong with being a woman and wearing make-up or promoting it. Keep up the good work Jessica.

“Fashionissima” is the new word in fashion, so… JB is fashionissima! So stylish and athletic!

I have 2 sisters, and out of the 3 of us, I am the only sister who wears make up. My husband says I’m beautiful without it, but I’m a woman and I happen to think it’s fun to wear make up. I hope it’s not true what that (doctor) said. Nowadays all celebs do commercials. Why not do one for make up if you are beautiful like Jessica.

Will not buy revlon products now.

if you want me to buy your lipstick, then hire a convincing actress.

what happen to supermodels?

How is she still relevant? She is hanging onto JT’s worn out britches.

Well DUHH, she is selling makeup, so of course the company is pushing the image that “You will look beautiful and glamorous with our product, and only our product!” I hope women remember that there is integrity and beauty about a face with very little or no makeup, that guys highly prefer the natural look, and that you do not need the “hottest new product” to feel beautiful and good about yourself.

Lilly: Thank you so much for the comments you made about JB and the Revlon company! I, myself, used to work at a factory that made all kinds of makeup, especially Revlon. Yes, I was overworked (10-12 hrs. sometimes) and underpaid. I got laid-off after 27 yrs. in that company due to the economy. Ladies, what Lilly said was absolutely true about teens and makeup. You don’t need this makeup to make you feel beautiful and powerful. Teens and women work so hard to make themselves look so good, but it’s what inside that really counts. Also, be careful to what you put on your face. I know quite a bit of what’s in cosmetics because I worked in a research and development lab that experimented. They’re hurting you more than helping you. Research the ingredients before you buy. Thank you for taking your time to read this.

Actually I do think they are all selling out. Just because one does it does not mean it is ok. Is that your philosophy? All I am saying is to look at how that lipstick is made from manufacturing the plastic, to creating the color, and many more steps. If I was going to promote something I would want to make sure that no person is suffering or working under less-than-fair conditions in production. Let’s talk real world and the real evil of marketing.

Am I the only one who thinks it’s funny that the actress who declared she doesn’t get roles she wants because she’s “too pretty” has sold out to a cosmetics company?
