M.I.A.'s Wedding Style: 'I've Always Wanted to Get Married in a White Suit'

We wouldn’t expect a traditional wedding gown from “Born Free” rapper M.I.A, simply based on her history of envelope-pushing style. But the 34-year-old bride-to-be doesn’t see herself wearing a dress at all when she finally heads down the aisle with fiance Benjamin Bronfman. “I’ve always wanted to get married in a white suit,” says the songstress (nee Mathangi Arulpragasam) in the July issue of GQ. And where did the London-born Sri Lankan star get her wedding fashion inspiration? “I used to work at a Kodak lab in England, cutting photos after they’d come out of the wash,” recalls the mom of 16-month-old Ikhyd.  “And in one I saw this couple getting married on a beach in white suits, and their kid was there.” For more on M.I.A., pick up the July issue of GQ or visit gq.com. –Marissa Patlingrao Cooley

Who Cares, she’s a wanna be and on top of that, the name she picked out for her kid, that poor kid will be picked on forever.

Mrs. JP, don’t you think that maybe her ethnicity has something to do with the spelling and pronunciation of Ikyid’s name? Not everyone can be Bob or Jane!

I wonder if she was black, whether she’d be characterized as a London born African?
