Katie Holmes Dishes on Her 'Classics With a Twist' Clothing Line

It’s not just Katie Holmes‘s jeans that get fashionistas talking. The star has been slowly unveiling designs from her two-year-old Holmes & Yang line, co-designed by her stylist and friend Jeanne Yang, by wearing them to great acclaim on the red carpet. The two first had the idea for the label while going through Katie’s own closet four years ago as they both agreed that women, like men, needed wardrobe staple-based uniforms for everyday wear. “We want to create pieces a woman can wear over and over, and people won’t necessarily say, ‘Oh, you wore that last week,'” Holmes says. The two have since based their collection on what Yang–whose clients include Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Eva Mendes–calls “classics with a twist,” which includes basics like blouses, trousers, jumpsuits, skirts, and cocktail dresses that retail on the much higher end ($945 for a blouse, for example). And lest one of Hollywood’s favorite rising fashion stars, Katie’s 4-year-old daughter Suri, be left out, Holmes & Yang is turning out a few matching styles for the pint-size set. “They love matching Mom,” Holmes says of her daughter and other sartorially minded girls. “And it’s a limited time during which they really want to.” To hear more from Katie and Jeanne, check out ELLE.com or pick up their current issue, on newsstands now. –Melissa Liebling-Goldberg

From the looks of that picture I am not impressed with her clothes/designs

This has got to be one of the worse collections I have seen in a very long time! And to ask a potential customer to pay $945 for a blouse is obscene!

So basically pieces that you can find anywhere else for a lot less!

Ummmmm Patty…it didnt say her line was chatginf 945.00…read it again for clarity…It was COMPARING her line to more expensive lines that cost that much…GEEEZ People get upset over the most GOOFY-est things…..

Those prices are insulting. Are they kidding? The one woman in the photo is wearing $2000…..a pair of pants and a blouse!! I’ve seen much more established designers charge less than that. I’m going to Target and buy some Isaac Mizrahi, thank you very much.

Actually, if you click on the link to Elle.com it does mention the prices. And they ARE that expensive.

The confusion is coming from the fact that the article was not written clearly….

The only difference between these styles and that of Express, Limited, J. Crew or Ann Taylor, is the price tag. Based on picture above, there is nothing new or different and certainly not, “classic with a twist”. Then again, this is H’wood and they beat to their own drummer.

Yawn… Like everything else Katie Holmes does, this is over-hyped and under-whelming.
