All-American brand the Gap may have hosted last night’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala, but there wasn’t one pair of jeans in sight on the glamorous red carpet. The brand teamed up with some of the country’s most coveted young designers to get Hollywood A-listers like Jessica Alba, Kerry Washington and Kirsten Dunst glam. “I quickly realized that Gap should not make dresses for the Met,” Gap Executive Vice President of Global Design Patrick Robinson told PEOPLE on his decision to not turn dressmaker. “That’s not what we do, but I had the opportunity to meet some of the most amazing talent in the world today like Alexander Wang, Rodarte, Sophie Theallet and Thakoon,” he added. “The collaboration wasn’t me going to them and saying ‘I want you to make dresses for Gap.’ It was really ‘I want you to make dresses for these women that we’re all going to talk about and work on but I want you to express yourself and express what your brand is about.'” Jessica Alba, who has worn every label from Gucci to Marchesa, was proud to embody the American Woman in her Sophie Theallet for Gap dress. “I love that Gap is working with amazing designers like Sophie Theallet and applaud their efforts to make chic fashion affordable and accessible,” said the star. Washington, who donned a red-hot dress by Thakoon for Gap, furthered Alba’s sentiment on taking the brand to a glamorous level gushing, “The gown combines my love for Thakoon’s unique vision for the whimsical with Gap’s all-American cool.” While Jessica, Kerry and Kirsten’s (Rodarte for Gap) dresses won’t be making their way to a Gap near you, beginning today until May 31, you can bid on all the stars’ designer Gap gowns at All proceeds from the auction will be donated to The Met in support of The Costume Institute. I like Jessica’s dress the best. All though they are were great. Jessica’s is the prettiest to me. It looks great on her and she looks like she’s right to the floor.

I’m not digging Kirsten’s dress. It reminds me of a 1920’s bride. I’m just not feeling it. The other two are pretty though:)

I like Jessica Alba’s dress the best, and it’s nice that the proceeds, from the bidding of the dresses, get donated to The Met in support of The Gala! I just wanted to wish Adam Sandler’s Daughter, Sadie, a happy 4th birthday!

When I was scrolling through the pictures of celebrities at the Met Gala last night on, the only dress that really caught my eye was Kerry Washington’s. She was stunning! Great color. Great cut. She looked exquisite. Nearly everyone looks great at all of these things, but her dress REALLY stood out for me. Glad you can bid on it. Should make someone very happy.

Actually, there was one pair of jeans: Ralph Lauren!

All of the dressed are beautiful in their own way; I particularly like Jessica’s dress the best– I would wear it in a heart beat. The way Kerry’s dress is cut is not flattering to her legs.
