After losing 30 lbs. in 12 weeks, actress Sara Rue is going for 10 more, she says. “The changing of your mind is often the hardest part,” says Rue, a spokesperson for Jenny Craig. “Now that I’ve conquered that, I’m ready for more!” Rue, 31, has struggled with her weight since she was a child. The red-headed actress, who starred in the TV show Eastwick, says she once lost a role due to her size. Determined to gain control of her weight, Rue joined the program in November and learned about how much to eat and healthy foods. She explains, “The key has been portion control, which has totally helped me not slip up, and has given me the necessary balance to feel good. I’m comfortable with this program, because it’s not a diet –- it’s a lifestyle change.” As a result, the pounds fell off — and she’s down to the last ten lbs of her Jenny Craig journey. Her reward for successful weigh-ins? A manicure. Rue enthuses, “Thanks to my 30-lb. weight loss, my nails have never looked better!” –Elaine Aradillas

I thought she looked before.

2.5 pounds a week; not realistic weight loss! Once again giving “average” people false hopes.

Well, good for her – she looks great. But I remember when she lost weight before (not on Jenny Craig) and then she gained it back. I think Jenny Craig’s prepared meals are good for a quick fix, but it will be interesting to see how she does once she has to make her own meals and eat real-world foods. Look what happened to Kirstie Alley.

I agree with those who think she’ll gain it back. Eating frozen meals is only going to cut it for awhile, and you will lose weight. She would have a better chance keeping it off if she learned how to make healthy food choices for herself (not pre-packaged), and she’ll need to exercise regularly. If you want to be healthier, try Spark People (do a web search), it’s free (really) and an excellent plan.

I remember when Sara Rue starred in the TV show “Less Than Perfect” from 2002-2006. She lost a lot of weight then too, but gained it back.

Good for her, but I like her either way, heavier or not. She’s a good actress, and a beautiful woman. I loved her guest role on The Big Bang Theory, in large part because she was a little thick but nobody ever mentioned it on the show, as if, SHOCKINGLY, it wasn’t actually a big deal and she could still be appealing girlfriend material! I’m happy for her though, because I myself have been trying to lose weight and I’ve only managed 20 pounds in 5 months despite doing a pretty good job of eating well and exercising frequently. I’ll take it though!

For real life solutions to weight loss weight watchers is way better. Once she goes off Jenny Craig it will all come back on.

Sara looks fantastic. I am sure she will do her very best to keep it off. She is a talented actress. Not everyone puts it back on again. I did and now I am working at getting it off for good!

I am thrilled for her, however a 2.5 week pound loss, even at her young age of 31, consistently is very very agressive and should not be characterized as “falling off”. Weight does not “fall off” for ANY woman unless you are dealing with an eating disorder or an unhealthy diet/exercise plan.

Sara has clearly been working very very hard, don’t diminish that work by categorizing it as any “falling off”. She should be commended for that.

The process is natural and should not be diminished. Love how she looked before and still love her. She looks lovely and healthy!!

If I had a personal trainer and all of the program food paid for me, I could lose all of my extra weight too! It amazes me when these celebrities say “It’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle change.” Duh! For years, doctors have been telling us balanced meals, portion control and exercise. Say it with me…lifestyle change. Why is it that when Jenny says it, people act as if it’s a newsflash?
