Alexander McQueen Fashion Label To Continue

While the world still mourns the death of British designer Lee McQueen, founder and creative director of the Alexander McQueen label, after his suicide last week, WWD reports today that the fashion brand will soldier on. “We believe in the future of the brand. Lee was very proud of the people working in his company, and so am I.” said Robert Polet, president and chief executive officer of the Gucci Group, which has a majority stake in the McQueen line. Though the New York fashion show for the designer’s contemporary label, McQ, was abruptly canceled the day of McQueen’s passing, the runway presentation for the Alexander McQueen collection will be held on March 9 during Paris Fashion Week. – Emily Hsieh

Ohh Alexander I UNDERSTAND! The world can be so uncomfortable, cruel and lonely. And to lose loved ones like your mother only magnifies the loneliness. Though you seemed to have a life that many would relish…you just dont sometimes know the deomons that one is strugling with. RIP…God Bless.

I love comments by news media outlets, such as “still mourns” HE JUST DIED, and tragically. Loved ones will never stop mourning. So sad, I’m sure his mother would have wanted him to continue a happy, healthy life in her memory.

To Rob – oh please! This guy was 40 years old, not a child. Was he not aware of the circle of life? Honestly, he had everything going for him and this is how he goes out?! Give me a break. Yes, I love my parents and I know that one day they are going to die, either before me or after me. It’s a little thing called LIFE! I’m certainly not going to hang myself in a closet over it!

@Reese – Different people handle the deaths of loved ones differently. People who “have everything going for them” can still suffer from depression. Sad that you’re treating his death like this when something was clearly very wrong for at least a little before his death. None of us ever know the whole story.

Everyone mourns differently, and sadly, this was the way he wanted to mourn: by being with his mom again. To reese: While I appreciate your opinion, some people think diff about the circle of life. While others embrace facts, some people try and avoid the inevitable, then when it hits them, it can be too late, and the emotion is too overwhelming.

R.I.P Lee Mcqueen. The most innovative, creative, extreme, and amazing designer of all time. No one will ever come close to your work!! You have inspired me my entire life, and will continue to do so. Thanks for showing the world what one is capable of.

Reese – You are quite fortunate to have never suffered the way this man apparently did. Can we even begin to imagine the desperation someone must feel in those final moments.

Great news. Lee expressed on several occasions he wanted his legacy to go on and that he at times felt it was time to give space for the talent of the future to bloom. Thank you for the inspiration, the training and the advice. You will always be missed. x
