Heidi Klum: "I'm Proud of Being the Curvy Model"

Heidi Klum didn’t plan on walking the runway of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show last night, but let’s just say she’s a little bit impulsive. “I felt great the night of the fashion show and decided last minute to walk,” the supermodel, 36, who welcomed daughter Lou, with husband Seal, last month, tells PEOPLE exclusively. Klum, who had already been fitted for her dress, opened the Enchanted Forest-themed part of the show, wearing a vine-strewn corset and a full white skirt. “I loved my outfit,” she says, “so I thought, why not?” Her surprise appearance, known only to Victoria’s Secret insiders, drew screams and applause from a shocked audience during the live show Thursday night. Though Klum, who was expected only to host the festivities, said that while her new job behind the scenes meant there was “definitely less pressure,” walking in the show was a thrill for her. “I’m proud of being the curvy model on the Victoria’s Secret stage,” she says, adding that she enjoyed the show herself. “The Black Eyed Peas and all of the looks for the show were fantastic!” You can watch Heidi — and all the Angels — hit the runway when the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show airs on CBS at 10pm EST on Dec. 1.–Charlotte Triggs

Don’t we mean Heidi Samuel?
…just doesn’t have the same “oomph” that Klum has…
She’s gorgeous whatever her name is.

She looks great, and it was so sad to see in another column that she said she needs to lose 20lbs. It’s ridiculous. I’d kill for the body she has in the VS runway show.

US has an obesity problem. The new normal is not 5″3″ and 150 lbs. Need to be honest and real, women who work out and plan meals and drop excuses are not anorexic, they are disciplined and care about their health.

I’m sorry, we’re supposed to applause her because she’s the self-proclaimed ‘curvy’ model in the show??? Congrats, you had a baby but you also have a personal trainer and personal chef.

Please, please Heidi Klum, if you should ever read this: DO NOT LOSE ANY MORE WEIGHT! You look ten years younger JUST as you are RIGHT NOW! You are TOO SMART of a woman to be sucked into the mass consciousness thinking of the fashion world. They are dehumanizing too all women everywhere and I wouldn’t want to think that you are participating in that. Be the unique person that you are and stand strong.

Oh please this whole thing was clearly planned. I’m sure they had a dress that fit u last minute. It’s not really anything amazing considering everything that actually curvy is covered up. Show us those thighs because right now Heidi I don’t see the “curvy” you see. So annoying. She’ll be “curvy” for about two more weeks. I mean I love me some Heidi but get real.

How do these celebrity females get their postpartum bodies back so fast? Angelina had twins and pics of Heidi showed her so huge she looked ready to burst. What do they do about the stretched abdominal skin? Stretch marks?

she had to walk the catwalk because she needs the attention.

Newsflash: America Ferrara is curvy; Heidi Klum isn’t.
These designers and magazines need to stop glamourising”fake”curves for what they really are; an ounce of meat on their bones.
People Magazine: you’re losing it….

I feel Ms. Klum has potentially done a major disservice to woman including herself. This mad dash to loose post pregnancy weight and get your “bikini body” back immediately following birth is ridiculous, possibly dangerous, and somewhat irresponsible for someone who career and reputation is dependent upon influencing the images of women and girls in the media. It takes the body 9 months to provide the environment worthy of carrying a healthy baby to term. It is reasonable, therefore, that women should take an equal amount of time, potentially more, to recover from that experience. The thought that Ms. Klum is “curvy” at her current weight or overweight is also ridiculous since a woman of her stature is still within her ideal BMI with the added weight.
