EXCLUSIVE: The Scoop on Madonna's New Couture Costumes

Madonna looks fiercer than ever on stage these days, and she has one man to thank for that On the opening night of the Material Girl’s Sticky & Sweet tour’s second leg July 4 in London, Madonna wowed fans with a new “super couture, sensual, Goth, bondage” costume that Givenchy Haute Couture’s Riccardo Tisci designed for her opening act. “What I wanted for the opening was to give a very iconic view of Madonna,” Tisci tells PEOPLE exclusively. “She’s wearing an outfit that will make history. I wanted to do something even stronger (than what he designed for her in the tour’s first leg) because she wants to be stronger.” Working with the Queen of Pop was easy, says Tisci. “I just met her six months ago and I’m completely in love with her,” he says. “She’s an artist but she let me express myself, which is rare. She knew what she liked from my collection and wanted me to translate that for her on stage.” He also designed a new dress for another part of her show. “She said she wanted to do colors,” he says. “I said why not? So we did fluorescent rosary necklaces (over a black dress.)” Tisci was also very impressed with Madonna’s ability to remain calm in the midst of so much activitity, rehearsing and putting her tour together. And yet, he says, “She was very calm and Zen. She is a Leo like me. For Leos to be calm and Zen takes time because we are very energetic. She was amazing.” And she’s not the only one rocking new costumes on the tour — Madonna’s male backup dancers looked newly sharp in Brooks Brothers Slim Fit ten-pleat wing collar and tennis collar white tuxedo shirts during the opening number of “Candyshop.”

And while Madonna may be strong, that doesn’t mean that she isn’t deeply feeling the death of friend Michael Jackson, paying homage to him midway through her Saturday night’s show at London’s O2 arena — where Jackson was scheduled to kick off his “This Is It” tour on July 13 — when one of her dancers burst onto the stage dressed in Jackson’s trademark fedora, sequined jacket, white t-shirt and white glove, boogeying to a medley of his megahits including “Wanna Be Starting Something.” “All right people!” Madonna said afterward. “Let’s give it up for one of the greatest artists the world has ever known: Michael Jackson! Long live the King!!!” And we say long live her Majesty. –K.C. Baker

Madonna is the best ever!!!!!! Many copy her but dont even come close to her stage presence and talent. The tribute to Michael Jackson was very honarable indeed on her part. That tells you a lot about her character. Those who have said “Who cares” I tell them f*&k yourselves. At least, her legacy will live on forever, whereas you are just a bunch of losers. You just wish you were .00001% as smart as she is. Like somebody just wrote, Spears has no talent, Christina is almost gone and Beyonce is a b!tch. The only one who’s good is Rihanna and she’s been heavily influenced by Madonna. Madonna at 50 still rocks and has a rocking body. Wish she had toured the US again. I would have seen her again hands DOWN!!!! Long live the True QUEEN!!!!!

Madonna is a goddess who rules the universe for the third decade. She is extraordinary talented, otherwise she would not be where she is now. Madonna symbolizes the best of capitalism drive with a more humanistic approach. Madonna’s voice character far out weights & outshines the screaming divas who brag about their screaming range. Her voice has depth, melodrama as well as an everlasting girlish coyness/ rawness/ raunchiness and excitement. Her dance routines are as diverse as her music. Madonna is the greatest female artist/ cultural icon the world has ever seen. On stage she still plays with everyone’s mind. Nobody can sing Frozen, Beat Goes On and Like a Prayer the way Madonna does. And regardless of all the tools that are available to everybody, nobody has become fifty, looking as great as she does at fifty. Her sexy butt is the result of Madonna’s self discipline. Her stage shows too. Bless her MaDjesty, THE Queen of Universe.

You do. You are just jealous of her. I bet you dream of Madonna and wake up thinking about her. We Madonna fans and admirers don’t dream. We get up, hail the queen, dance and sing, do our thing and celebrate. Celebrate ourselves as well as her MaDjesty’s rule on you.

I love Madonna since 1984, but sometimes news about her and other celebrities are just soooo unecessary, this page could have been used for better. I bet Madonna is paying attention to the commotion with Michaels death, it shows her that no matter what you do, good or bad, people will adore you. Us fans are a bunch of phonies, we wouldn’t even attend the funeral if what MJ was accused off was our father, uncle or whatever.

Madonna is a one of a kind amazing woman! I will cry SOOO HARD the day she passes! Luckily she is uber healthy so she’ll probably end up out-living us all!!

Madonna, the Queen of Pop, is the fiercest on satge because she combines electrifying music (each song is remixed), superb lighting, precision choreography and optimum fashion sense. Noone else, not even MJ, can top that!
