Looks like the recession’s heading for The Hills. The New York Post reports that designer Lauren Conrad is putting her eponymous clothing line on hiatus, citing the current economy. The line, which launched in 2007, suffered from reports of slow sales last year, with retailer Kitson dropping the collection. The Post says that the reality star has put a hold on shipments and that some showrooms received a message stating, “In light of the economic climate, Lauren has decided to rethink her line.” spoke with Lauren’s rep, Nicole Perez, who confirmed, “She’s taking a few seasons off so she can rework the line — but it will be coming back with Lauren [continuing] as the designer.” A source also tells that L.C. will be looking into different fabric options and possibly moving beyond her signature jersey, which dominated previous collections. Check back with for more updates from Lauren about the future of her collection. Tell us: Have you ever bought clothing from L.C.’s collection? What do you think about her taking the line in a different direction?

Wow, can’t believe this! I really wondered when I asked her if she would be showing at Fashion Week again and the question was dodged, hmmm. Here’s my interview with her:

Who is she?

You can get the same looks for a fraction of the price at Forever 21. Just because you have a reality show doesn’t mean that you should overcharge!

i agree LGI…i get her occasional newsletters for her clothing, and it doesn’t matter how much percent off there is, it’s still too pricey…i’m glad they’re admitting she didn’t design any of it…i’m so over it

No, I have not bought clothing from L.C. collections! L.C. taking her line in a different direction is her choice! Also, saw Ciara and Justin Timberlake’s new song, “Love, Sex, Magic”, and it was really good.

No, I have not bought from her line. I love LC and would actually buy her clothes, if only they weren’t so pricey…HINT: LOWER THE PRICES! People are buying the same items from other retailers for A FOURTH OF THE PRICE.

First off “Brit” who doesn’t know who Lauren Conrad is she is a HUGE star and a amazing talent, and “ariana” she always designs her collections, by HERSELF! I’ll support Lauren in whatever she does!

I bought a few items from her collection on sale. I bought the Ashlee dress and gabrielle skirt. The clothes themselves are cute, great quality and goes with everything but its the prices that I have a problem with. I bought the items on sale and they were still pricey. LC should lower her prices and she would be a success because she really makes feminine and comfortable clothes that last for a long time.

I agree with everything said thus far. Laurens designs are very practical, cute and trendy, however, the clothes are way over-priced, and she’s a brand new designer. It’s almost $200 for a short jersey dress… it’s not practical for the line’s target market. They don’t need to take any seasons off because people will buy the clothing if it were cheaper.

Kevin ur absolutely hilarious!!

LC is a “big star”!? ha ha ha ha
