In the August issue of In Style magazine, which hits stands this Friday, cover girl Rihanna opens up about her rule-breaking fashion philosophy — and her future. While her non-conformist sense of style sets her apart from the crowd, she tells the magazine it’s all about having fun and staying true to herself. “I love to play to both sides of my personality — the girlie and the tough. That’s what makes my style different.” And taking her own path sometimes garners unexpected attention, especially when it comes to that famous short bob. “The first time I heard people were asking for the Rihanna, it was really flattering and maybe a little strange. It caught be by surprise, but now I feel it’s a very cool thing. I don’t feel the pressure to change it up again at all. I like it, as they like it.” At just 20 years old, the singer sees her future approaching fast, telling the mag, “I feel like I have so much more to accomplish before I’m 21.” But what about a decade down the line? “In 10 years I want to have already started my family and have some business of my own. A fashion line, a makeup line, and I still want to be doing what I’m doing at a much bigger capacity — by the grace of God!” Click here for behind-the-scenes footage of the cover shoot, and get the full interview in In Style, just in time for the weekend.

She looks terrible in that cover photo but I saw some scans of the other pics and they’re a lot better. I think her style can be really hit or miss, but she’s young so it is to be expected. She has a gorgeous face.

she is so fresh and beautiful. I love her and her style and think that she has major lasting power. Go Rihanna!

She is very pretentious the “Rihanna”=the short bob, well no actually even if i don’t like Victoria Beckham let’s be honest, she is the one who made this haircut a trend.Victoria gave up her hair extensions and rocked the bob haircut before everyone while Rihanna was still wearing her long honey/blonde weave.
The bob haircut=Victoria Beckham haircut.

i agree with kim v. her style is hit and miss.

but i don’t think she deserves to be on the cover of instyle. i think she has a long way to go in terms of style to be worthy of the cover. cutting your hair and having a nasally voice that’s also hit and miss (hit: “don’t stop the music” miss: “unfaithful”) does not make a superstar.

Hey, lay off it, guys… she’s not claiming to be a fashion icon or anything. And while her style be hit or miss, she’s young — 20 years old. When you’re that young and that thin, wear whatever you want! Personally, I think she’s going through a phase… as we all did when we were 20 years old. We just didn’t have the whole world scrutinizing and criticizing us for it.

Hi Haters! If Rihanna had blond extensions and blue eyes you wouldn’t be hating. I’m not a die hard fan but she seems like a hard working young lady who is not in the press for DWI, getting high or acting a fool. I admire her for marching to her own beat when it comes to fashion. Go ahead Girl. Do your thing.

She is a Victoria Beckham wannabe.
