Lauren Conrad Readies for Her Runway Debut

Clark Samuels/startraks

As if having your first runway show at Los Angeles Fashion Week wasn’t enough, Lauren Conrad is still having to deal with rumors of Heidi Montag‘s competing clothing line. But Heidi’s “affordable fashion” isn’t on Lauren’s radar anyway — the designer not only admits to USA Today her love of Moschino and Marc Jacobs, but her case of nerves about her debut runway collection. “I’m really nervous. It’s one thing to have your designs displayed in stores. To have them walk down the runway is a really big deal,” Lauren says of her eponymous collection. The Hills star admits that without fame she wouldn’t have come so far so fast. But as much as Lauren loves her designer shoes, don’t expect her to be designing them anytime soon. “I don’t know if I would do shoes. I like buying them, but that’s not something I’d be good at designing. I’m gonna stick to buying shoes.” Check out Lauren’s existing line by clicking here, and come back on Wednesday for all the details on her fashion show.

she should also stick to buying clothes, not “designing” them.

smith on

never watched the show, so is she a celeb by default, like paris?

Emmi on

I would be nervous too if my collection looked like something that is sold at Old Navy or the Gap for 1/10 of the price. Thank goodness she is “famous” for her reality show, without it nobody would pay attention to her clothes!

peeps on

I’m sorry I am not saying this to attack or rag on someone who is a big deal right now but, I just really don’t like her clothes and almost always don’t like what she’s wearing. This is my opinion and we are all entitled to one. Something about her always looks so unkept and her clothes look droopy and sloppy. I wish she would dress a little more elegantly. She could really take notes from Whitney who is often so well pulled together and women like Catherine Zeta Jones, Halle Berry and Nicole Kidman their style is alwyas elegant, flawless, figure flattering and chic. They may be older but, they are the best examples I can think of, in my life I know a few young women Lauren’s age who dress in a beautiful elegant manner, so age is no excuse especially for a fashion designer. I also feel she needs to take better care of herself; skin and hair wise and wear more high class makeup. She almost has a bit of a Britney thing going here. I mean look at the above picture how is that an appropraite way to dress and be groomed. That’s how a girl looks just coming off the beach; like she just threw on a sundress and has messy beach hair that she put up in a princess ponytail. I just don’t think she carries or herself, dresses or looks the part of an up and coming designer. She needs a makeover STAT.

Dont get me wrong, I really like LC BUT why would I spend that kinda money on her line when I can get cuter or perhaps the same kinda tops, skirts, dresses some place else?

Ive seen pieces from her line and I am not impressed.

Shirley on

I really want to wish “LC” all the best. The girl has style and class and knows fashion which is important and a major part of launching your own clothing line. I’ve watched her since Laguna Beach and can’t wait for the premier of the The Hills on the 24th. Hopefully I can afford something from her if not I wish her the best.

As for Heidi goes, those two girls are TWO different people. At this point Heidi’s personal life shouldn’t have anything to do with her wanting to do her own thing in the business world BUT when you see someone treat a friend like crap and tries to justify it and so forth, that not only makes the person looks bad but anything and everything having to do with that person is just not appealing any longer. I wish her well as well but remember you action speaks very loud especially if you are on television.

Debbie on

Go Lauren. You are awesome. Don’t worry about Heidi, her clothes will probably fail like her singing career. Can’t wait to watch The Hills in a couple of weeks.

i cannot wait to see the new the hills this month…

Kate on

good job Lauren and good luck! at least somebody is doing something great compare to the other celebrities, that all they do is use drugs, party like crazy, get drunk and then get arrested for DUI.

Kate on

good luck lauren!

Y does she think her line will sell?
She wants us to buy her overpriced uncreative stuff while she wears Valention, BCBG, etc.

Looks like she may have 2 sell her “$2.7 million Spanish-style mansion just off Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles”… bc sales of her line wont pay that mortgage

…unless MTV is paying her enouf.

IS she gonna graduate from Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising ? She’s been there 4 2yrs already!

@ least Nicki Hilton actualy trained , got a degree, interned , THEN launched her clothes line.

Hannah on

You know, I think her fashion show will be very successful. Her clothes are adorable so I’m sure the clothes she designs will be even more adorable!

lissa on

Her clothes are Boring

i love Lauren and herf clothes and hello people she does go to fashion school so she knows what shes doing and half of you who are judging it already havent even seen the whole collection =] but an opinon is an opinon and thats mineee

Team Lauren <33

melissa on

In regards to Smiths comment, Lauren actually got celeb status by being on Laguna Beach and then her own spin off, The Hills. So no, Lauren isn’t famous because of her family- like Paris. People enjoy tuning into her life on The Hills. If we all didn’t, the show would have flopped instead of doing well for the past 3 seasons. As far as fashion sense, I like her taste. This is what she is going to school for. This is why she interned at Teen Vogue. She has aspired to be a fashion designer since she has been in high school. So, GO Lauren!!

Tracee on

I think her clothes are cool but not exactly runway material.

Traci on

I think ur doing good Lauren not everybody can do clothing line’s. So I don’t know what their all talking about. With ur style I am sure ur clothing line will do GREAT. I would be nervous to. GOOD LUCK!

Dorothy on

Her line is very basic, unimpressive and not that cheap for such simple line and materials. But I guess all those starlet with short-lived stardom have to capitalize on it as fast as they can!

Dawn on

I wish Lauren all the best! She deserves it! For all the haters on here who are ripping on her for her style and collection obviously don’t know much about fashion or the time it takes to put a collection like that together.

Tally on

I totally agree with “Emmi” and “Peeps” on this one, especially peeps.
To me- Lauren always looks like a “blob.”
She never wears anything shapely or fitting.
I do understand that her style and clothing line represent the “laid back” California lifestyle, but she looks totally “laid back” all day, every day!
She needs to wear some brighter colors, some more daring looks, and, PLEASE another fabric besides cotton or nylon!
Her line looks like Sarah Jessica Parkers, which, in case anyone didn’t know, averages around $5 per ITEM!!
She is basically scamming little girls who look up to her into buying her clothes simply because she grew up in Laguna Hills and somehow got “famous.”

mucho21 on

Did you guys see that new show on E! Pop fiction on Sun!!! Its freakn hilarious. Ashton Kutcher is a genius punking the paparazzi so great!! Did you see Avril Lavigne on the show shes pulling a prank on the pap!! I cant wait to see this show next sun. Its my favorite show right now!! Heres the link you wanted.

Maurine Atkinson on

Her clothes are cute, but way overpriced!

vicky on

Her line looks very boring–it’s already all over the street.

Melissa on

She is pretty…but that’s all she is. She is no better than Paris because all she did to gain “fame” is by being on a reality show. Big whoop. Her clothes are too overpriced for looking like big cotton shapeless bags. And she should finish graduating from FIDM before making a line. Just because she’s “famous”, she has it easy by getting a runway show.

Kelley on

To: DOrothy Lilkunta, Steph, Emmi, Peeps, Me, Tally, vicky, Melissa:

Since I don’t see any of your names on any labels on ANY clothing lines, nor have I ever seen any of your names on any runway shows, I think you better think twice about what you say, because obviously none of you have a CLUE about fashion. And just so you know Lauren already graduated. And was one of the YOUNGEST interns at Teen Vogue – don’t see any of you that have achieved something as amazing as that. And for any of you to slam her for her looks, you must ALL be supermodels!!! Amazing how you can sit back on your little computers and talk smack about someone but not get out in the real world and actually do something with your life. At least Lauren is following her dreams and is doing what she set out to do. And in this business it’s definitely not easy! And for all you other haters, yes, she got “known” for being on a reality show, but obviously became very well liked or they wouldn’t have given her her own show that is now in its fourth year!!!! So there you go, maybe you all should go do something positive with your day or at least say something nice to a random person on the street, it might make you feel a little better for being such a negative person in general!!

kayla on

luv the show & luv her……lauren rox

Leii on

i like Lauren but TOO expensive. tone it down a bit lauren!

bev on

Whew! Now I do not have to make an ugly clothes line, she did it for me….PHEW!!!

Nicola on

Oh good, so she’s designing new garbage sacks? What on earth is she holding up? The newest drapery meant to disguise the anorexic frames of wannabes? Pfft.

At least she admits she wouldn’t be where she is had MTV not rubbed her and her airhead friends onto our TV screens. If she can do it surely the rest of us can… how hard is something like that to design? Not very.

Brittany on

I think she is charging a little too much for basic pieces in the same basic materials. None of her designs are unique or fashion forward at all! I can put that $100+ towards a better name in the fashion industry.

Pam on

I just went to her website. Some of the clothes are ok I think I saw maybe two tops I liked but the prices are crazy! $94 for a top is nuts!

damion on

think LC is hot and so is her line

who cares on

I’m not fond of Lauren, or of her show. That being said, there is nothing really wrong with her clothing line, except it is overpriced and many of the clothes look similar to what I can find at any store for a much cheaper price. If they were in my price range, I might buy one or two of her tops, but not endorse in her entire line.
As to those who have said that she is not classy, I sort of agree. What I think is that her hair and makeup can look classy, and her clothingcan very occasionally, but she always appears slouchy. Not just her posture, but also her clothes.
I’d like to add that I am 17 and this is my opinion, so saying it is a line only teenagers would buy is insulting.

Heather on

The clothes are cute, but not very original. I can’t really see them as fitting (no pun intended) for a runway show, as I associate shows with more creativity. Reminds me of the C+C California line, which as far as I’m aware, does not have runway shows.

Bottom line: Cute, basic clothes that look better accessorized. Better suited for online sales and the like.

Michelle Thompson on

First of all, Best of luck to you LC you deserve nothing but the best…I love watching “The Hills” I believe that you are a deserving individual that has tried to be true to yourself and strived for what you want and have gotten there. Go for it girl. Good Luck! As far as the other comments posted I didn’t realize this was a bash Lauren session! If you don’t have kind things to say, keep them to yourself.

s on

overpriced dont you think. they are cute clothes, but overpriced.

Kay on

Good luck and may God continue blessing…

Carrie on

I too agree she should stick to buying clothes. The Audrina dress however is very cute, but it looks like something Forever21 would have designed… and they are a LOT less expensive.

Carrie on

Her style is AWFUL. I do like the Audrina dress, but I can probably find something just as cute at Forever21 with the same style and a fraction of the cost… and I don’t even like the “hobo” look! If Heidi is coming out with a line, I hope she reads these remarks on Lauren’s line and decides to take a different approach… I don’t mind spending $$$ but her crap isn’t even runway material.

emily on

It would be interesting to see if she could even qualify for Project Runway…

Steph on

I wish Lauren the best of luck. Not too many people believe in her talent as a fashion designer so I hope she can prove them all wrong!

Amber on

i would much rather see lauren making clothes than having to listen to heidi sing!

Kristen on

I loved the old underdog feel of Lauren, and when she got her own show I was really happy because I’m like she’s in LA she will get crazy and live a little. I’m sad to say Lauren is a stiffy and wears cute things but she is soooooooooooooo plain. I don’t understand who would want to invest in Lauren’s “closet” because that’s what she is selling, the clothes out her closet!. The most plain clothes I have ever seen. Lauren, go to a paint store and see that other colors are on the color spectrum and ooo you can mix them and put them with other colors!

jc on

it’s all just overpriced draped fabric pieces you could get anywhere or even make yourself. why waste the $$$$$$$?????

Tygress on

I am a fan of JC as much as the next person, but I just looked at all her collections and they all look the same. It’s like she created a dress then chopped that in half to creat a top. I know you like draping in all, but come on show some versitility will ya.

Howdy! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wnnderiog which blog platform are you using for this site? I’m getting tired of WordPress because I’ve had issues with hackers and I’m looking at options for another platform. I would be great if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
