What's the Best or Worst Style Advice Your Mother Has Given You?

When it comes to Kate Hudson‘s style, we think of sunshine, flip flops and boho fashion, much like her California-chic mom, Goldie Hawn. Goldie’s laid-back yet stylish look seems to have rubbed off on her starlet daughter, who was recently honored by Elle as a style icon. Goldie seems to be passing along all of the best fashion advice to Kate, but the editors at StyleWatch want to know what words of wardrobe wisdom your mothers have given you? Tell us: What was the best–or worst–style advice you’ve ever gotten from your mother?

Confidence – my mom always emphasizes that being comfortable in what you wear and good posture are priceless accessories when it comes to looking and feeling great in what you wear (and 5 pounds slimmer).

The bigger the clothes are the thinner you look..

best advice: less is more.

worst advice: this is more beauty advice than style advice, but she wouldn’t let me get my eyebrows done until i was 16. it was horrible, i inherited my dad’s thick eyebrows, not her thin ones, so she didn’t understand my need to not have caterpillars above my eyes.

I don’t agree with what Sabrina’s Mom told her “the bigger the clothes the thinner you look”.
If you are thin, it just makes you look big.

My mother always had style and it was passed down to me. I love fashion. I like unusual but classy items to add to your wardrobe.

Always dress for your body – not matter what the current trends are. And be glad that you are tall – clothes hang better.

My stepmom tells me I look pretty every time I see her. Feeling good about yourself is more important than the actual clothes you are wearing.

Clothes must fit perfectly to flatter your figure.

I´m glad Goldie´s style didn´t rub on me because she isn´t stylish at all in this picture. The best style tip my mother gave me is dress with dignity according to your age……

I´m glad Goldie´s style didn´t rub on me! She doesn´t look stylish at all in this picture. Best advice from my mom.” dress with dignity according to your age” ( as in:no knees, no bare arms, no messy hair after a certain age, no matter how well mantained you are…)

My mom has always been adamant that I should have bangs – I’m still trying to decide if that’s good or bad advice!
