In the past week, we’ve seen some heavy-hitting stars step out in surprisingly similar purple strapless dresses. Eva Longoria hit a Vogue event in Mexico City in her lilac Oscar de la Renta, while Natalie Portman honored Julia Roberts at an American Cinematheque gala in Lanvin and LeAnn Rimes dropped by The Late Show in her wool Alexander McQueen minidress. This is one of those great versatile trends — more interesting than the standard little black dress, but still utterly wearable and transformable with accessories. Here are a few of our favorites online, all for less than $58!

Ruby Rox Satin Bubble Dress, $58 at

Johnny Martin Tube Dress with Ruffle Hem, $58 at

Isaac Mizrahi for Target Strapless Dress in Milan Purple, $40 at

Tube Bra Top Dress, $38 at

This is a really cute trend, all three of these ladies look great!

Purple is a bold color that’s easy for women to pull off. I can’t wait to get a purple dress this season!

I like Natalie’s and LeAnn’s dresses, but I think Eva’s is an ugly shade of purple and is gathered in the front strangly.

Wearing purple to honor and observe October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month!

Purple is a lovely feminine color for dresses. I have one and I love it. However to be honest I don’t like any of these, the cuts and lengths and colors aren’t very flattering. Purple can be done a lot better, the ladies are very pretty but I can picture them in much more figure and skin tone flattering purple dresses then the ones they are wearing. Here is Bridget Moynahan in a purple gown.,%20Bridget

Now that is well done!!!

Either my monitor screen is tricking me, or these are great shades of purple. It’s a muted shade and I like all three.

LeAnn Rimes dress is my favorite. I love the cut at the bottom. The shade of purple is really pretty and I love the material. She looks beautiful. Natalie Portman’s dress is my second fave. The color and cut of the dress is so elegant. However, Eva’s dress is ugly. The shade of purple is pretty, but she doesn’t pull the color off very well. There’s just something wrong with the shape of her dress too. Also, Eva can never go without the “bling”. I think if she were to of not worn that necklace, she could have showcased her shoulders and neck better. She could have gotten away with a much smaller necklace though. Also, her shoes are too gaudy looking sometimes. She should have worn a shoe with much more simplicity to it, just like Natalie’s and LeAnn’s.
