What makes Gwen Stefani a style icon? It’s all in the mix! “She’s a little punk, a little Hollywood glamour; she’s a little bit of a reggae girl. And she’s a tomboy,” says her stylist and secret weapon Andrea Lieberman, who began working with Stefani on the “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” video. For The Sweet Escape tour, Lieberman and Stefani “were in a very ’50s sensibility” that “spanned the globe.” They took inspiration from Elvis and his “Jailhouse Rock” phase as well as ’50s London. “That’s where all the shirts and the ties came from,” Lieberman tells us. “A lot of the hairstyles are a very rockabilly.” At the same time they moved past the Harajuku Girls phase into something “more grown up. We never did a more traditional Japanese thing and we sort of wanted to go there with ‘4 In The Morning.” But if you want to steal Gwen’s look, you just have to hit your local mall. “It’s all out there. It’s just a matter of how you put it together,” she says. For example, “we got our skinny ties from Urban Outfitters.”

Gwen Stefani disgusts me. She is such a vain, selfish human being. Her not very affordable clothing line Hirashuku has been imitated by retailers trying to provide the same “style” to the average girl. Oh but old Gwen wouldn’t have that and she filed a lawsuit…yes why should mere mortals be able to dress themselves in her styles. It is really a shame how Gwen, who came from humble beginnings herself, sunk to this level of vanity, greed, arrogance. This is one fan Gwen Stefani has lost.

I love Gwen….her style is so unique….and that’s cool she got some of her clothing from stores everyone can go to…..

I love gwen’s style!!! She is the one!

She is so ugly!!!!!If anyone else looked like that they would be laughed at!!

Wow! Gwen may be good at mixing pieces together, but most of all, she that extreme confidence to pull it off!

Princess on

I like Gwen. She can pull off anything because she has the confidence to pull it off.

I can not stand Gwen’s style.
I do not see how she is a “fashion icon.”
In one of the pictures she is half french maid and half baker.
She really needs to start looking the the mirror before she leaves her house.
I can not say I have seen one picture of her where she is dressed decent.

Let me say first of all, I am not a major fan of Gwen.

Carys- I don’t think you ever were a fan of Gwen. Her line is called Harajuku Lovers (not Hirashuku Lovers). I think her line is great! I went to Virgin Records the other day and got one shirt for 10 bucks and the other one for 15 bucks! I just waited till they were on sale. I don’t think she has changed. You say the “old Gwen” wouldn’t have done this, or the
“old Gwen” wouldn’t have done that. She hasn’t changed, she is still the great Gwen Stefani. Her concerts are more fun to go to, her line of clothes is awesome, she seems happy with her life, she has a great looking husband, a cute kid, she not trying to starve herself, she isn’t on every magizine cover for drugs or anything, she looks great in anything, she knows how to sing (unlike some artists), her music is very origanal, etc. The list goes on and on and on. So next time think before hitting that “post entry” button.

I agree with alia and bb. She can put fabric and colors together, and make a great and unique outfit. Plus she has the confidence to make the outfit work.

I have to admit. I’m kinda shocked at all the bad reviews Gwens getting. I love Gwen for her insane confidence and her ability to constantly revamp her look into something even better. She’s unique.

Katelyn – Anyone can think anything they want. I don’t think you have the right to tell anyone that they should “think before hitting the post entry button”. Also, you misunderstood Carys. She said “oh but old gwen wouldn’t have that”… not old as in previous personality or anything. Old as “good ole gwen” except it’s sarcasm.

I personally like Gwen. I agree with what you said about not doing drugs or starving herself. And her music is pretty good. But just saying, people have a right to opinions.
