What's Hot For Fall? Pencil Skirts Like Angelina's & Beyonce's

08/01/2007 at 01:00 PM ET

This classic look is coming back with a vengence this fall, but in order for this sexy skirt to reach its full slimming potential, you have to wear it right. First, find the right length and make sure it’s tapered then pair it with the right top. To define your midsection, do like Angelina Jolie and add a thin tonal belt to a blousy top. This will also give shape to a thick middle without calling attention to it. Add curves to a slim frame by opting for a higher waistline and V-shaped detail with a tucked in top to create a more shapely silhouette. Take a cue from Beyonce and add a fuller jacket cinched at the waist to offset wide hips without minimizing curves. No matter which way you wear this look, heels are a must. New styles like oxfords and straps shorten the leg, but a dark tight can counteract the effect. Stick with a classic pump to keep it safe. Both of these ladies look great. I love the belt paired with the pencil skirt. The chunkier belts seems to go better than a thin belt, and I like Beyonce’s shirt too. Angelina looks flawless. I love how her hair is done up. Both of these ladies look fantastic and beautiful.

I really like the Banana Republic’s pencil skirt. I just may get it.

I don’t think the pencil skirt is the right choice of putting on because it’s just no

I agree with Becky I think B pulls it off great and Anjolina is even too skinny for a pencil skirt.

I really like both their outfits overall, they look adorable, but I think B looks better. Angelina has gotten waaay too skinny, her head looks too big for her body and like it might fall off at any minute. I love the pencil skirt though, I will definitely get a new one for this fall!

i think beyonce looks great in that pencil skirt, she has the curves to wear a skirt like that, as for angelina jolie she has always dressed very respectful but i just think she maybe a little too thin for this outfit.

Angelina wants to be known and remembered as a humanitarian. As someone who grew up in a U.N. family with a humanitarian mother and grandfather and having spent many years in Africa I can tell you she is definitely not the real deal. Your claim about Angelina being first and foremost a movie star is clearly contradicted by the quotes below.
“I have no animosity toward Hollywood or the demands of the red carpet, all that silliness,” Jolie, 32, tells Esquire magazine in its upcoming July issue.

“That’s my job, and I’m happy to have it. But when I die, do I want to be remembered as an actress? No.”

“I recently had an op-ed (column) published in a newspaper,” she continues. “And at the end, it didn’t say I was an actress. It said that I was a UN goodwill ambassador — that’s all. And I was really proud.”

Lifestyle is a choice and no one forces the hands of celebrities. In fact a celebrity who went against the grain would likely be more popular and have a more thriving career by standing out from the masses.
I do not agree with lavish lifestyles in a world with so much poverty, with so many under funded charities and so many causes in need. Nowhere does it say that if you make a large amount of money that you have to live in several giant mansions, there are certainly better things to put all that money towards; like children with cancer. I could never sleep in a giant mansion knowing what that wasted money could do for so many in need. I find it especially distasteful to see someone promote themselves as a humanitarian and then live a very shallow, materialistic life. If you cannot comprehend this then I can only feel sorry for you.
Many glamorous women do not spend a fortune on clothes; it’s the person that makes the clothes after all.

P.S. The article, if read properly, indicates where to buy a pencil skirt for under $20.00.

Big fan of pencil skirts. They make you look and feel sexy, but you’re covered up so they’re great for work. Beyonce looks great!
