Beauty Roadtest: Eyelash Conditioner

Your mother warned you the eyelash curler would break your lashes. Despite that advice, you’ve spent years crimping your lashes into a flirty curl. Well, I finally learned my lesson. No prizewinners to begin with, my lashes were falling out and breaking off. No amount of mascara would make them look much better than a stubble, and I was starting to panic. But then, I heard about Jan Marini’s Age Intervention Eyelash Conditioner, the cult fave of Hollywood celebs. The stylist on Desperate Housewives orders the wands by the boxful. Rachel Ray has raved and Amber Valletta wouldn’t be caught without this miracle worker. Better yet, derm to the stars, Dr. Paul McAndrews, whose specialty is all things hair (as in repairing those bald spots caused by extensions) recommends it. The conditioner is brushed on makeup-free eyes at bedtime — just never with makeup. I wasn’t buying the talk of miracles, but after three months of (almost daily) my lashes are denser, lusher and easier to curl — yeah, that’s right, I haven’t given up the curler either. Get yours for $160 by going to — Maureen

You can buy pure silk amino acids online ( it’s a key hair ingredient) and add a few drops to your regular mascara. You’ll see results in a matter of weeks as opposed to months and it’s much less expensive.

What an enormous waste of money! Is using an eyelash curler that essential? Why not just buy a good mascara?

KR on

Honestly, this sounds great but why is it this expensive? Is it supply and demand, is there nothing else like it in the world? Ridiculous. You can buy a really great hair conditioner for 30 bucks and that’s for a whole head of hair. I’ll take my chances with the evil eye lash curler and a nice mascara instead.

$160.00!! I’d rather buy J-Lo’s $94 T-shirt.
I guess my eyelashes will never make it on Hollywood’s A-list.

I have it. Not a waste of money. Seriously, my eyelashes are LONGER! Hardly need mascara. As are my moms. Much easier and cheaper than extensions. My tube lasted 6 months…

Mary on

I have ridiculously short and sparse eyelashes, but I think $160 is too much.

this product may work for keeping lashes soft, but it doesn’t help with growth! save your money!

Karen on

you dont need lash conditioner. all you need is a good curler. the best one on the market is the shu uemera lash culer ($18) and it doesnt damage your lashes.

I’ve been using the Age Intervention lash for over a year now. I had to get my lashes permed last month because they got so long and are blocking my vision.

I love it. It’s an amazing product. One tube lasts over 6 month and for only $160.00 That’s cheap. But if you can’t afford, that’s too bad for you!

gracie on

seriously! michelle is right….it is awesome. not talking superficially great lashes….naturally great lashes. it has changed my life. totally worth it if you can swing it and factor that it comes out to about $26/month….

When my friend first told me about this “miracle” eyelash product from Jan Marini I told her she was crazy to spend that kind of money on a product like that. Then I saw her results- super long lashes that looked like extensions even before putting on mascara! I grudgingly forked over $160 and must admit it is one of the best products I have ever used. I get so many compliments about people thinking I am wearing fake lashes.

tracey on

it has nothing to do w/not be able to afford it, i don’t want to afford it.
michelle too bad for you that your eyes lashes are growing like a jungle!

Kristy on

Do you paint it on each lash individually or over the lid of your eye? I rather pay a lot for a product that truly works than pay a little for one that doesnt.

Hi, I am an african american woman and my front hairline is extremely thin (maybe from wearing ponytial/braids) I need help to bring my hair back. I take hair vitamins and I’ve stopped wearing the ponytails. You mentioned Dr. Paul Andrews treating bald spots, is there help for me.

gracie on

hey kristy…i just put it on like eyeliner around the based of the lashes at night before bed. it took me about 4 weeks to see results…now everyone is commenting. i love it. definitely worth the investment.

I have been using this stuff since January, and it is AMAZING. Well worth the $$! You just use it like an eye liner, and place it directly on the roots of your lashes.

I am a huge Jan Marini fan (my moms a dermatologist) and this eye lash conditioner is one of my favorite products! Some of my friends pay over $400 for lash extentions that only last 2 months, so the $160 price tag is well worth it.

Also, Dria, Jan Marini also makes a hair conditioner that you spray on your roots after your shower. I have been using it for around 2 months and my hair already feels fuller and denser. You should try it.

margaret on

Ardell’s Brow & Lash Accelerator. its like.. $3.99 and gives the same results WAY faster.. like you start seeing results after the first night of use. no joke- find it on

Jenna on

what a huge wast of money. its not like i cant afford it but. ill stick to useing my FINGUR! omg, and i dont even have to pay for it!whoaaa…

HLS on

Who wants to look like her real eyelashes are fake?

georgia on

its not worth 160.00!!!!
yoo could get a perfectly good mascara for half or even three times less than that!!

Kelly on

OMG i dont think anyone should but that unless they are filthy rich!
i mean $160 is ridiculous for something for yur eyelashes!
i was tihnking about buying that product then i saw how much they were :o

Crystal on

Yes this conditioner is FANTASTIC but you can buy it cheaper on ebay!!!

Chantelle on

come on. An eyelash conditioner. what next? How far will we go with theses use less things? someone please tell me if this product’s not over exagerated.

Kel on

Hey i think they are pretty cool…but i don’t think i will have to worry about that because i don’t curl my eyelashes!!!

Christine on

This product is absolutely remarkable! I had to cut back and only use it a couple times a week because my lashes were getting too long. It really works and everyone comments on my lashes. And it lasts a long time because you really use very little. You don’t want to glob it on at all…it is phenomenal!!

Left Brain on

Don’t waste your money on this dangerous, untested drug.

Jenny on

Are you kidding? I’ve never really seen the need for even an eyelash curler if you get quality mascara. Eyelash conditioners? What’s next? Nose hair softeners!

Brianna on

This product really works! It took me a long time to try it because of the price, but the results have been amazing! Even the areas on my lower lashes where my lashes wouldn’t grow now have long lashes. Everyone I know who uses it has wonderful long lashes and it is especially noticeable on the women who had very short lashes, they are thrilled with the results. If it last six months (my first tube lasted 9 months) that is about the same you’d spend on mascaras that are going to damage your lashes or smear all over your face. The lack of daily maintenance is worth it, I don’t have to spend anytime putting on mascara in the morning and I am never concerned about smudging but I have beautiful lashes that almost touch my brows – a lot of women think I have really good lash extensions. At a pool party recently some of the guys were overheard commenting on how most of the women were too concerned about their “war paint” to have any fun but a couple of us who had left the “war paint” off were singled out as being the women they wanted to be around because we looked good when we are at the pool (or go water/snow skiing) and we weren’t always concerned about how our make-up looked. Getting dressed up and made up is great, but being able to look great without it is fantastic! Besides, if it didn’t work, why would Jan Marini give a money back guarantee?

Kim on

I want to make sure I go to a legit website, which one do you use? (to buy pure silk amino acids?)

Trixie on

I have actually been using Enormous Lash is $95 and an eye lash conditioner as well! it comes with a 100% money back guarantee if for some reason you aren’t happy with it. Thanks to this product I, along with almost all my friends and family, have GORGEOUS long full lashes!!!!!!! :) every girl should own this product!
