Lucy, Jen and Liv Brighten Up The Red Carpet

While there was no shortage of head-turning fashions walking up the Metropolitan Museum’s red-carpeted steps last night, these three leading ladies stood out for their unsually bold looks. We’re not sure how, but Jennifer Garner gracefully managed her ascent in this vivid red vintage Valentino Haute Couture gown. Lucy Liu popped in her purple Zac Posen dress, and Liv Tyler played up her creamy pale skin in a turqouise sheath paired with bright red lips. While many other stars opted for black (Mary Kate Olsen, Kate Moss, Lindsay Lohan) or metallic (Kate Bosworth, Jennifer Hudson, Jessica Simpson) we love this bright trend and hope it continues into fall. What do you think? Tell us: Would you dare to wear a bright color to a red carpet event, or play it safe in a less attention grabbing shade?

I wouldn’t often say this –
But, Mary Kate’s gown is FABULOUS! You should have featured that one… talk about bold!

Go girl!

I am in love with Lucy Liu dress, the color, the style, just everything about it is perfect!

I saw J. Garner’s look from the front and wasn’t a very big fan of it. Its just ok.

Well, to be totally honest i’m all for color on the red carpet, it gets them attention, and it’s all about having fun!

On the downside, Lucy Liu looks fantastic but needs to get the gold band out of her hair (then she’d be perfect), Jennifer Garner’s dress would work better on someone more striking, she simply drowns in it. Liv Tyler’s dress is nice, and complements her lipstick, but could use just a TINY bit more shape :)

Other than that though, these girls look fantastic, and kudos for braving such bright colors!

these ladies are obviously very confident and look good in these shades, but I don’t think I would be confident enough to wear these shades.

They all look stunning.

I loved Mary Kate’s dress too, steph! It’s definitely not one of the brightest, but she looked beautiful. Cameron Diaz’s dress was bright fuchsia AND beautiful. Almost all of these dresses were fantastic.

Jessica Simpson’s wasn’t my favorite, though.

Gorgeous. As I posted in another blog, Liv Tyler’s dress was one of my favorites. I love the color and it compliments her skin tone and her make-up looks perfect. She is so beautiful.

How could I forget to list Lucy Lui’s dress as one of my favorites? I love the color, and the ruffles or flower straps and bottom of the dress are gorgeous. I love it. Lucy looks incredible.

Jennifer Garner’s dress was okay. I love the bold red, but it really doesn’t stand out as much as all the rest, but she looks very pretty.

Some of the other dresses I liked were Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Hudson and Renee Zellweger. I also agree with Steph…Mary-Kate’s dress was beautiful. The best I’ve seen her, and her make-up was nicely done. Normally Mary-Kate will have the racoon/smokey eyes with red lipstick, but her make-up looked very nice and she just looked as pretty as ever.

Does anyone else think Jessica Simpson looks really bad? I don’t know if it’s the photo or what, but she looked horrible, in my opinion.
