Behind the Scenes With Skechers Girl Ashlee Simpson

04/25/2007 at 12:00 PM ET

Second time’s the charm for Ashlee Simpson, who recently completed her second season as a Skechers girl in the shoe line’s ad campaign. We got a sneak peek at the photoshoot, which might even turn into a thirty second tv commercial. As for Ashlee, she tells PEOPLE that she’s “honored to be the new generation (of Skechers). For me, I always want to come across with a funky, cool style that girls can relate to. So hopefully I can bring my style to it.” And is it weird for the singer to see herself as a model? Not at all, says Ashlee. “It’s so cool to have an ad in a magazine! When I’m flipping thru a magazine I love, I say ‘Oh, cool! There I am!’ It’s a good feeling.”

God, she looks like Jessica there…I guess the plastic surgery really worked for her. Now that Jessica is a dud…Ashlee can be the stud.

She looks very pretty here. But does anyone really still wear Sketchers?

It’s just amazing what they can do with plastic surgery. She looks like a completely different person. Personally I can’t imagine doing that without loosing a since of self. But anyway seeing her in some sketchers isn’t going to make me run out an buy a pair. Ashley, you go girl, if you like looking at yourself, more power to ya!

Alice, even my Manolo-wearing self wears Sketchers most of the time.

I think the performance of Sketchers has really changed in recent years. My feet and ankles haven’t tolerated the last two pairs of their athletic shoes I’ve had, even after I stuffed them with insoles. I wouldn’t even consider the brand for athletic use now. Maybe they’re geared more towards fashion now???

Great, now she’s turning into Jessica.

The problem with Ashlee doing these commercials is that you pay more attention to her plastic surgery than to the shoes. I mean, Ashlee looks fantastic, but I’m not sure that means I’ll be trying on Sketchers anytime soon. On the other hand, I WOULD like to know the name of Ashlee’s plastic surgeon—he’s a genius!

Ashley Simpson looks so much better after her much talked about plastic surgery! Move over Jessica! I think she looks great and stylish, i for one am glad her punk-rock phase has faded out some leaving her much more put together!! – Jennifer Athens, TN

just curious, but why do a lot of people seem to dislike ashlee??
i wouldn’t call myself a fan, but usually there’s atleast ONE person per blog that is a superfan of however’s being commented on. not in this case apparently, because the only “positive” comments are about how she looks much better post-surgery. ouch.

I totally thought she was Jess at first, until I read the headline. She looks great, but I think she has completely lost her sense of individuality.

Own up to the surgery girl, you aren’t fooling anyone! No one even wonders if you got it or not, waaaay to obvious.

She comes across so fake! She looks good now, but that’s not necessarily the most important thing. What can I say, it’s Hollywood – who isn’t fake, right? Hey, it’s good to be me I guess – love my small, REAL town! =)
