Charitable Idea: Jennifer Garner's Baby Bag

04/06/2007 at 10:30 AM ET

Every mom knows that you need baby bags to hold a ton, but you still want them to be as stylish as the rest of your wardrobe. But sometimes that is harder that it should be. Luckily, Coach has stepped up to the plate with their Healthy Child Baby Bag, $348, in a new “scribble” design. Big enough to cart everything and stylish enough to save you from that gooey Mommy-and-Me look, the bag comes with a diaper changing pad, plenty of pockets and a detachable shoulder strap. The bag is only available on, and 20% of online sales will benefit Healthy Child Healthy World, an organization that educates parents on how to create healthy environments for their children with cleaner, safer choices at home. No wonder moms like Jennifer Garner, Brooke Shields and Monet Mazur are already toting it.

$348 for a canvas bag? People will pay to be a walking advertisement for Coach?
Anyone who says they would buy this bag is buying it for the logo and that’s it, otherwise there is no way to justify $348 for a bag made of scribbles and canvas.

This is not fashion, it’s insecurity and trying to prove you are something by wearing a logo.

My best friend works at Coach and i saw this bag! They have the bag in smaller sizes and its the same colot if you dont want a baby bag. But personally, i wouldnt wanna waste money on it. Cuz kids dont stay babies forever so once they’re older, they wont need a diaper bag.

I love it! I so wanted one like that last season… Coach is the cutest!!!

JK….I’m w/you. I make it a point never-ever to advertise w/logos. It feels cheap, like I’m saying, “look at me”. I believe in meekness. I would much rather buy a leather $120-$175) Fossil bag & have a little $ left over for some shoes? I don’t have to make a statement of anykind and I CAN AFFORD to spend $348 on a bag…I just choose not too!

I think the bag is totally adorable– be a mom in style! But it is probably way too expensive for us non-celebs…

cute bag- but i might get tired of it after awhile. it is nice how it is helping benefit charity though.

I have a coach diaper bag and I actually use it for work. It holds my laptop and the pockets are great for water bottles. And you can use the padded changing pad to protect the laptop when traveling.

Looks like a bag for a teenager, but at that price I’d never buy it for my daughters. I like something a little more sophisticated and reasonably priced.

I’m with Lucy and JK. I started collecting leather Coach bags in 1988 – I have at least 30 bags. Now that they insist on putting the logo on everything and making all these cloth bags – we’ll, they’ve lost me as a customer – it’s an end of an era for me. I can afford them, but choose not to buy them.

What mother can afford to spend that on a diaper bag?! It’s not even attractive! That’s ridiculous. I would never spend that much money on a bag. My bag cost $40 and it looks cooler and I can use it as a giant purse if need be. Yeah, 20% goes to charity…but that’s still a whole lot going to Coach. I’ll pick my own charity thank you.
