Courtney Love's Fashion Faux Pas

02/28/2007 at 01:00 PM ET

When we read in Women’s Wear Daily that Courtney Love had worn a copy of a Chanel Couture dress to Paris Hilton‘s recent birthday party last week, we couldn’t believe our eyes. The industry newspaper reported that the real, one-of-kind, miniscule dress was in Paris, and that Courtney’s — right down to the bogus fingerless gloves — was a complete fashion fake. Would Courtney purposely risk drawing the ire of Lagerfeld? According to her publicist, Alan Nierob, the answer is no. He tells us that Courtney was sent a bunch of dresses from various sources to wear during Oscar weekend. Unbeknownst to her, someone had included the imitation frock amongst the options. She saw the classy mini (sans label) and decided to wear it. The identity of the copycat dress lender is unknown but according to Nierob, Courtney is sorry that Karl is upset and says she would not have worn the dress had she known that it was a knock-off.

Oh man…why this woman doesnt hire a stylist? She can’t afford it or she still is suffering from the delusion that she can dress herself?

She looks like Britney Spears! Seriously, take a close look . . . well, Britney Spears on a relatively good day pre-pregnancy.

I can’t help but think that maybe this is the only way she can think of to make herself noticed and put into print.
I have to agree with the ladies who dilike this outfit… YUCK!

Stop going to fashion shows Courtney. And stop being a slave to designers. Get off the train before it’s too late. Lagerfield obviously has issues. The original and the imitation dresses both look like remnants of depression era servants’ (slaves) costume. Perhaps men saw this dress on their mistresses and jumped out the window and it had nothing to do with the stock crash after all. I imagine Anne Frank in this dress due to the dark circles around the model’s eyes reminiscent of long-suffering malnutrition. I suppose this costume is a statement that the war is alive and well (and ill). What really sparked the fire at Paris’ party was likely that fat-boy-oil-pig must have commented on the dress.

This looks like a “French Maid” Halloween Costume gone wrong.
