Britney Goes Brunette: Does It Work?

12/11/2006 at 01:43 PM ET

We just can’t keep up: We’ve barely finished breathlessly recounting the details of Britney Spears’ post-divorce makeover, when she — oops! — did it again. The newly single pop star stepped out Dec. 8 in L.A. with newly dark hair, continuing her follicular ping-ponging over the past few months. No word on whether her stylist Rita Hazan — who was responsible for Brit’s short-lived blonde bob — engineered this makeover as well. What’s your take: Do you like Britney better blonde or brunette?

See who else has changed their hair recently in our archive.

I think she is absolutely HOT! I wish everyone would just try not to stay in her business so much and get a life!

It looks a little dark with her skin tone.

I think she looks great with dark hair. However, her hair always look so messy! Would it take much of an effort for one of her assistants to style her hair before she goes out. I do it for myself every day, as I do not have a stylist or an assistance, and I’m not the one being hounded by papparazzi all of the time

Being a celebrity must be an odd life. I mean, a typical non-work day for me is to roll out of bed, get dressed in something comfy, quickly brush the hair and toss it up in a messy bun, run errands, go home, have dinner, maybe go out to catch a movie or have a drink with some friends, go to sleep.

If you’re a celebrity it’s supposed to be: roll out of bed, go through daily beauty/fitness maintenance, get your makeup and hair immaculate, consult with your stylist that the comfortable sweater you’ve loved the last 10 years isn’t going to result in the headline “emotional crisis!” on the cover of a trashy tabloid while you’re going to get some milk at the grocery store, run errands while trying not to be blinded by paparazi, make sure that you have your mom go and get you your feminine hygiene products because you don’t want THAT in the news, dodge cameras going home, eat a low-calorie half-starvation dinner because you’re “pregnant” if you gain two pounds and approach a “healthy” BMI, watch what you throw in the trash because people are digging through it for more news stories, get berated for not having taken your child with you while shopping, get hyper-analyzed for intimate details of how you interact with your children when you DO take them out, make sure you’re flawless at all times to avoid criticism, go to sleep. Rinse, repeat.

I wonder if they know this is what they’re signing up for. Frankly, you couldn’t pay me enough to live that kind of life.

Britney, I like the darker look…I’m a fan of having not every last woman in hollywood bleached blonde. Makes them look a little less like the boring cookie-cutter starlet mold. You have my sympathy for what you’re going through right now: having your personal hygiene, mothering abilities, and style critiqued in the middle of a nasty divorce while trying to adjust to being a 25 year old single-mom of two…I think you’re doing a better job of it than I could (and probably handling it better than most people posting here).

For the record, I’m not a fan…I just recognize a hurting human being when I see one.

There’s more important things in the world to think about then her. Let the women live… Who cares what color her hair is!

Either way looks fine…I just think if she’s going to go dark, her eyebrows need to match. They look too light in this picture.

I like Britney as a brunette, but I also like her as a blond. In this picture I would prefer he to be a blond.
